Magok Texas BBQ restaurant: window-seat daytime beer date, Taqueros

If you're looking for a Magok date spot with great atmosphere and good food, Taqueros ticks all three boxes: exotic interior, friendly service and tasty dishes. Last week I had some personal errands in Magok with my husband, and we ended up having a proper special date at Taqueros!

Where is Taqueros Magok Main Branch, and what are the hours and parking?

Taqueros Magok Main Branch (타케로스 마곡본점) is in Unit 202 on the 2nd floor of Magok GMG Tower, a 3-minute walk from Exit 3 of Magok Station. It's open 11:30–21:30 (break time 15:00–17:00), closed every Monday, and you can park in the building's underground garage.

We parked underground, took the elevator up to the 2nd floor, and this sign greeted us. There are set menus and single menus. Is the Texas BBQ rib the signature?

What are the interior, seating and date atmosphere like at Taqueros?

The inside feels like a stylish, exotic local pub at an overseas resort or somewhere in Mexico or South America. The moment you walk in, it doesn't feel like Magok at all. The colors are bold, but the lighting is soft and the music is lovely, so it melts your heart ^^

Which seat should we take? The striking interior made me hesitate, and it's really charming. The non-window seats are pretty too, so whether you're a couple or a family group, it's a great setup for sitting across from each other and talking. A date-friendly vibe, I'd say!

Arrive at opening time for a window seat at Taqueros

Thanks to going at opening time... we ended up first in line, so I claimed the window seat! Personally, I like going right at opening or just after the meal rush ^^ It's easier to get a good seat that way. From experience.

Once we sat down, they brought this right away! It was already hot out, so the cold water was very welcome. It was my first time at Taqueros, but the staff were so kind that, taste aside, I felt good from the moment we walked in until we left. That careful attention made the date feel even more complete.

What's in the Taqueros Signature Couple Set, and how much is it?

The Taqueros Signature Couple Set (for 2–3 people) is ₩59,000 and comes with 2–3 tacos plus Texas BBQ ribs. We added a lime draft beer for my husband and an apple mango ade for me, and if you order alcohol, you get free nachos!

Oh my, everything on the menu was tempting. I love quesadillas. Should I go for single dishes? I thought about it, but the set seemed like the better deal, so as befits a Magok date spot, we chose the Signature Couple Set.

The plates are simple and pretty, and they even give you pocket-style hygiene gloves, which is thoughtful for someone like me who tears into food by hand.

While waiting for the food, we had nice music and a gentle breeze coming in through the window. I was in such a good mood.

They gave us so many nachos for free! Crispy and nutty, you can't stop reaching for them, can't stop, can't stop~ ♪♬

My husband was so happy to have a daytime beer for the first time in a while ^^ When we ordered the couple set, they took ₩1,500 off each of the lime draft beer and the apple mango ade. Total win.

We're in a good mood, so of course we have to toast! It really felt like a date haha

Crunch, crunch, snacking away! The nachos had no stale taste at all, just nutty and crispy, the best. You have to dunk them deep in the rich cheese.

How do the Taqueros fish taco and crispy chicken taco taste?

The couple set tacos came as a fish taco and a crispy chicken taco, and when I told my husband to pick, he chose the fish taco. The fish chunk is big, and it's also packed with vegetables,

and a tangy sauce is drizzled over it, so the flavors balance really well. Hold it like this and take a big bite, and you get the crispy-outside, moist-inside surprise. The fish is fried so crisply you can hear the crunch as you bite. Inside, the white fish is moist and tender, with no fishy taste at all, just clean. The tangy tartar-style white sauce and lettuce slaw cut right through the richness of the fried fish.

The chicken taco has a hearty flavor that nobody will dislike. The chicken is cooked moist, with not a hint of dryness, then fried crisp and tucked inside.

The signature Mexican spices really boost the savory depth, and it goes so well with beer. It comes with tomato salsa and a spicy sauce, so you never get tired of it. The flavor is both familiar and exotic, so I'd happily recommend it to taco beginners too.

How tender are the Taqueros Texas BBQ pork ribs?

The Taqueros Texas BBQ ribs are the main of the couple set, so tender the meat slides right off the bone, with a deep smoky aroma and a sweet-salty sauce. The main we'd been waiting for!!! I was shocked at the size of the plate first~~~ The overwhelmingly big BBQ ribs have a rich smoky smell that grabs all your senses. And look at that dark red glaze, slathered on and glistening!

Crispy fries sit underneath, and two sauces come with it: a BBQ sauce and a yogurt sauce.

Personally I liked the fresh, clean yogurt sauce, while my husband preferred the rich BBQ sauce! They asked if I wanted jalapeños, so I said yes. I'm the type who likes things better with some spice.

Let's quickly finish the chicken taco first ^^

Since we'd come to a Magok date favorite, my husband treated me properly and cut the ribs up nicely for me! The dark char marks seem to show the whole smoking process of authentic Texas barbecue.

Oh my... I got one cut rib, and it just fell apart like this. Take a bite and you'll be surprised at how smoothly the meat slides off the bone! Maybe because it's smoked for so long, the smoky aroma soaks deep into the meat, and the sweet-salty sauce goes with it wonderfully.

The meat is so tender you don't even need to chew. We alternated between the two sauces and kept getting pulled back in. With a sip of the lime draft beer alongside these rich ribs, the finish feels clean and nice.

Is Taqueros Magok Main Branch worth it for a date?

Taqueros Magok Main Branch earns its place as a Magok date favorite: you get high-quality Texas barbecue with friendly service in an exotic interior, with looks, taste and mood all covered. The single dishes are good too, but if you can, I'd recommend the Signature Couple Set with the BBQ ribs and a lime draft beer.
