Night indoor camping date in Hongdae: secret-forest entrance: TAGE

In short

TAGE Indoor Camping Hongdae Main Branch is an indoor campsite on basement level 1 on Wausan-ro in Mapo, Seoul. It is styled like a real campground with artificial grass, tents and soft lighting. A couple booked the 4th session (19:00–23:00), grilled 2 servings of pork belly, ate review-event ramyeon while watching YouTube, and explored the caravan-style restroom and photo zone. TAGE Indoor Camping is a good fit for a Hongdae date when you want a night-camping mood with no gear and no worries about the weather.

I heard there's an indoor campsite in Hongdae with seriously good vibes, so I went! I love camping, but packing all the gear is a hassle, glamping is trendy these days but traveling far every weekend is tiring too... And then you can camp indoors right in the middle of Seoul, in the middle of Hongdae, haha. No reason not to go!

TAGE Indoor Camping Hongdae Main Branch: location and sessions

TAGE Indoor Camping Hongdae Main Branch (티에이지실내캠핑장 홍대본점) is at 79 Wausan-ro, Mapo-gu, Seoul, in basement level 1, and it's open daily 11:00-23:00. It's within 10 minutes on foot from Hongik Univ. Station Exit 9 or Sangsu Station Exit 1, so access is pretty good! It's on a roadside close to the Hongdae club street, so it's not hard to find!! There's no parking, so come by public transport.

Time slots are split into sessions 1 to 4, and we went for the 4th!!

  • 1st session: 11:00-14:00
  • 2nd session: 14:00-17:00
  • 3rd session: 17:00-19:00
  • 4th session: 19:00-23:00
Basement entrance sign for TAGE Indoor Camping Hongdae Main Branch

It's in a basement, but the signs at the entrance are clear, so finding it wasn't hard! The sign itself was kind of bling-bling, which got me excited, haha.

A secret-forest entrance and a very calm dog

The walk into TAGE feels like heading into a secret forest? You can feel the concept from here.

Omg! Right when we walked in, there was a super cute dog??? But it was so calm and totally uninterested in me, lol. Still so cute T_T

Inside the Hongdae indoor campsite: atmosphere and fees

Inside TAGE, artificial grass covers the floor and tents are set at even intervals, so it looks like a real campsite, and the fee is ₩40,000 per table. After passing the cute dog we stepped into the main area and ta-da! It was so pretty I kept saying "wow" lol. Soft lighting adds to the mood, like being at an actual campsite! In person it's way prettier than in photos T_T

Some tables are discounted, so check carefully when you book! Also, alcohol (wine/spirits) is allowed with ₩15,000 corkage, but soju, beer and soft drinks can't be brought in!!

Best of all, weather doesn't affect you. Outdoor camping is hot in summer and cold in winter T_T The air conditioning here was strong, which I loved! Music plays but it's not too loud, which was nice too, haha. There were couples like us, and quite a few groups of friends too!! At the next table they were having a friend's birthday party.

I heard you can go rest inside a tent after eating. There's an arcade machine next to it so you can play games too, and it's such a romantic night-camping mood T_T

Camping gear and outside food: can you really come empty-handed?

Every spot has camping chairs and a table, plus basic camping gear like a burner, tableware, tongs and scissors. There's more than I expected, so you really can just show up. Another plus: outside food like delivery and takeout is allowed!! They say it's the only indoor activity spot in Hongdae that allows takeout and delivery.

Karaoke machines are free, there are plenty of board games, and each spot has a TV for Netflix or YouTube, which you can also use for Nintendo or classic video games. It'd be good for company workshops or group get-togethers too.

TAGE pork belly: price and taste

People usually order pork belly (samgyeopsal) at TAGE, and in exchange for the table fee the meat is really cheap. Pork belly is ₩9,500 per serving! Fresh pork belly is ₩14,500, and the price includes vegetables, ssamjang (dipping sauce) and salt.

Each table has simple notes written on it, and they said they'd give ramyeon for a review event, so... I couldn't resist... There were too many menu items to photograph, so I'm replacing that with a video... haha.

If you bring takeout meat, you have to buy butane gas and rent a grill plate. Delivery food costs nothing extra, but you must clean up afterwards, including sorting recyclables!

Table notes and review event information

Camping means pork belly, of course. We ordered 2 servings, haha.

They must use good meat, because it wasn't tough and was super juicy. The kimchi was so good too T_T We really enjoyed it.. I wanted to stir-fry rice too but held back, haha.

Review-event ramyeon and the caravan restroom: how was this Hongdae indoor date?

We finished by eating the ramyeon from the review event while watching YouTube, haha. It was nice to fully feel that special camping atmosphere. The restroom at TAGE is also caravan-themed, and it's clean and has soap too!!!

It was a great space for photos too! The lighting is set up beautifully, so even careless shots look moody. Instead of the usual bar or café date in Hongdae, it's good for a unique indoor camping date. Especially on hot days like these, I don't think there's a better place for a cool indoor date, haha. A great place to visit when you want to set a mood!
