Jeulgeoun Maeumeuro (즐거운 마음으로) is a sushi omakase restaurant in Gongdeok, Mapo, Seoul, near Daeheung Station. After voting on election day, the writer and a friend had the 180,000-won dinner course at Jeulgeoun Maeumeuro, from kongguksu (chilled soy milk noodles) and monkfish liver to cherry-wood smoked Spanish mackerel, tuna belly, a ramen omakase and dessert. With children and dogs welcome and free corkage for one bottle, Jeulgeoun Maeumeuro satisfied from start to finish and is a good Gongdeok sushi omakase for a special day.

Mangwon Station fine dining by car on a Sunday: lagarto steak, Noju

Noju (노주) is an 8-course fine dining restaurant on the 2nd floor near Exit 2 of Mangwon Station in Mapo, Seoul, serving a lunch chef's choice course for ₩55,000. The writer drove to Noju on a Sunday, parked at the Mangwon public parking lot, added the lettering service, and tasted everything from focaccia and truffle gnocchi to Iberico lagarto steak and lemon sherbet. Euljiro Yeontan Gui Luone City Branch is a recommended Seo-gu dinner spot for atmosphere, flavour and value.

Chamdwaejitgan Magok Branch is a Korean BBQ restaurant specializing in pork belly and skin-on five-layer pork belly (osyeopsal), in Queens Park Nine Building C right by Exit 9 of Balsan Station in Gangseo, Seoul. The writer had 2 servings of Jirisan black pork osyeopsal, 1 serving of Boseong Nokdon pork belly, steamed egg, soybean paste stew and fried rice; staff grilled everything to the end on a handmade grill that doesn't splatter oil, and the charcoal and rice-husk smoke gave the pork a gentle smoky flavor. Thanks to the meat quality and attentive service, Chamdwaejitgan Magok Branch is worth recommending for dates, work dinners and family meals alike.

Yesulhoegwan Station Korean BBQ: rib-meat doenjang rice, Sip Sam Dae

Sip Sam Dae (십삼대) is an ugalbi (bone-in beef short rib) and special pork belly restaurant in Guwol-dong, Namdong-gu, Incheon, near Yesulhoegwan Station. With the Ugalbi A Set (86,000 won), staff grilled the ugalbi and special pork belly, then came doenjang sulbap (soybean paste rice stew) made with meat trimmed from the ugalbi bones and Cream Cheese Minimi, a dessert from a receipt review event. Sip Sam Dae suits anyone who wants meat, doenjang rice and dessert all in one Guwol-dong meal.
