In short
Singsing Hoe Susan Sijang Magongnaru Station Direct Branch is a raw fish (hoe) restaurant on Magokjungang-ro in Gangseo, Seoul, with outdoor street-style and terrace seating. The writer ordered Wando flounder and Sokcho live squid in the version with side dishes (sukidashi), and steamed egg, fish-roe rice, corn cheese and butter-grilled king oyster mushrooms kept coming for a generous meal, while the live squid was firm and chewy. The weather has been so nice lately that I just wanted to get some fresh air and have a drink with sashimi. So I went looking for a raw fish place in Magongnaru and ended up at Singsing Hoe Susan Sijang Magongnaru Station Direct Branch (싱싱회 수산시장 마곡나루역 직영점). There are quite a few options for sashimi around Magongnaru, but I'd heard this one has great outdoor-table vibes, good value and a solid spread of side dishes, so I went. In the end I left really satisfied haha
What are the seats and atmosphere like at Singsing Hoe in Magongnaru?
The restaurant is fairly big, with both outdoor terrace seats and a spacious indoor area. It looked good for company dinners or group gatherings in Magongnaru, and it also felt relaxed enough for a date or a casual sashimi night with friends.

If there's an outdoor table (yajang), I almost always sit there. The terrace here seems great for daytime drinking, and I could imagine the evening atmosphere coming alive too, so it should suit anyone hunting for an outdoor spot in Magongnaru. The indoor area is roomy as well, so if the terrace isn't your thing you can head inside. Overall there's a wide choice of seating.

Wando flounder + Sokcho live squid, ordered with the sides
At Singsing Hoe you can choose a version without sides (skidashi, the small dishes served alongside sashimi) or with them. I ordered Wando flounder + Sokcho live squid, with sides.

I like it when lots of things come out together, so I chose the version with sides without hesitation. And it was a really good call. Sashimi alone is nice, but the side dishes here are far more generous than I expected, and they made the meal so much more fun.

What sides come with the sashimi at Singsing Hoe?
In the set I had, the sides were seasoned raw fish with vegetables, white kimchi, clam soup, tofu kimchi, fried shrimp, a fish-roe rice bowl, steamed egg, sizzling corn cheese and butter-grilled king oyster mushrooms. They kept coming out one after another, and it was a lot more filling than I expected.

The main sashimi matters, of course, but it's a letdown if the sides are weak. Here the sides lifted my overall satisfaction a lot.

Steamed egg, mini fish-roe rice, corn cheese, even butter-grilled mushrooms!! So packed, wow!!

How was the Wando flounder's texture?
Ta-da, the sashimi finally arrived! I tried the Wando flounder first, and the moment I picked up a piece I could see the grain was beautifully defined.

It wasn't too soft but nicely chewy, and a clean, nutty richness came through the more I chewed. Flounder can be a bit bland, but the fish here was in such good condition that every piece felt satisfying.
Sokcho live squid sashimi: chewy, not tough

My favorite of the day was the Sokcho live squid. It looked translucent and plump, so I had high hopes, and the texture really delivered. It wasn't that tough, rubbery chew but firm and springy at the same time. So good!

It's so chewy, right? 💓
Is Singsing Hoe a good meeting spot for sashimi in Magongnaru?
The restaurant is big with lots of seats, so it looks very versatile. It would work for a company dinner, a casual get-together with friends, or a date, since it didn't feel too noisy.
Parking support and terrace seats make it a pretty good choice for planning a sashimi meetup around Magongnaru. Daytime drinking is possible, and the late opening hours are another plus, so you don't have to worry much about timing.
