After work and dinner, there was one place I wanted to go: Something About Coffee (썸띵어바웃커피) in Gangnam, where I've been coming since college. You know those cafés you end up at whenever they cross your mind? That's exactly what Something About Coffee is for me. (Ahh, so excited..⭐️) This time I went with my husband.
Where is Something About Coffee near Sinnonhyeon Station?
Something About Coffee is tucked inside the back street behind CGV on Gangnam-daero 102-gil, so first-timers might get a little lost. Once you turn into the alley, you'll see a sign in a pixel-style font. Pretty hip-looking, right?

It's on the back street behind CGV, so first-timers might get a little lost.

Next to the entrance there's a blackboard sign like this. It lists opening hours and ingredients: they say they use French gourmet butter, 100% almonds and Finnish cream cheese. Seeing that got my expectations way up.
What's in the cake showcase at Something About Coffee?
The showcase at Something About Coffee had a huge range: closed sandwiches, mango bingsu (shaved ice dessert) for ₩35,000, strawberry cake and fruit cakes.

Oh my, they're so pretty!

You might think it's just about looks, but the breads and cakes here are genuinely great ♥️
Can you study at Something About Coffee? Interior and seating
Something About Coffee has strong Wi-Fi and power outlets, so it's a good spot for working or studying. Each floor from 1 to 3 has a different mood, so it feels like experiencing several spaces in one café.

This is the door out to the outdoor area.

I saw lots of guests working on laptops. The Wi-Fi is good and there are outlets, so it's a nice place to study. This area is divided off by white chiffon curtains, and the light coming through them, slightly translucent, feels really dreamy. Sit here and your photos come out well automatically.

Such a pretty outdoor seating area!! The old window frames combined with the wooden floor give it the feel of a café in some European alley. There are lots of details like this between floors. The combo of rattan lighting, white brick and a wooden chest of drawers means every little decor piece has charm. Each floor from 1 to 3 has its own mood, so it feels like experiencing several spaces in one café.

When you head up to find a seat, a space like this opens up. A chandelier, white brick pillars, and an open staircase. First-timers always stop here for a look.
How do the matcha latte, peach cream cake and egg tart taste?
At Something About Coffee I ordered a matcha latte, peach cream cake and egg tart, and my husband got an iced Americano. The egg tart was crisp outside and moist inside, and the peach cake had light, not-too-sweet whipped cream, which I loved.

Eating this at a seat with the Gangnam night view outside the window felt amazing.

My husband got an iced Americano. It felt like being abroad!! The egg tart was really good, crisp outside and moist inside, and the peach cake's whipped cream was so light and not too sweet 😭
Recommended: the 3rd-floor terrace at Something About Coffee

I personally recommend this 3rd-floor terrace at Something About Coffee!! A canopy roof, vintage wooden chairs, and the Gangnam street visible outside the window. Sitting here on an evening with nice weather is the best.
Where is the photo spot at Something About Coffee?
Next to the bakery display at Something About Coffee there's a mirror decorated with white flower vines, and lots of people take selfies here. You can't just walk past it.

I took one too.
