Solo terrace café in Yeonnam-dong: Picadamia Platter and decaf at Pip

I was at home and suddenly wanted to drink coffee outside. It's autumn, and I wanted a good cup of coffee in the fall breeze, so I headed to a café in Yeonnam-dong.

I figured an espresso bar would serve the real deal when it comes to coffee, so I picked Pip Espresso Bar in Yeonnam-dong. Let me tell you about this Yeonnam-dong dessert café, which is also listed in the Blue Ribbon guide.

Where do you park for Pip Espresso Bar?

I parked at the Yeonnam-dong public parking lot, and it was a 7–8 minute walk from the lot to the café. I stayed at the café for about 1 hour 14 minutes, and with the electric vehicle discount I paid around ₩2,200 for parking.

Without the discount it would have been ₩4,500.

The inside of Pip Espresso Bar is decorated in a cute, pretty way. From the outside it doesn't look huge, so I thought there'd only be a few seats, but once I went in there were quite a lot of them. And plenty of customers too! I came wanting to drink my coffee outdoors, so I headed out to the terrace.

An autumn terrace: is it okay to go alone?

The terrace at Pip Espresso Bar was packed with people enjoying the autumn weather, and there was exactly one seat left, so I sat down right away. Quite a few people were there on their own, too. Someone was working on a computer outside, and a foreign visitor came alone for a coffee and then left.

I sat there with my coffee and dessert, scrolling my phone and looking at the sky, and just spent the time.

Pip Espresso Bar menu and what I paid

Pip Espresso Bar has lots of drinks on the menu. From coffee to decaf to other drinks, there's a good range, so just pick whatever suits your taste when you visit.

There was a dessert I'd seen before coming, so I ordered it along with an iced decaf americano. The total came to ₩20,200!

The staff member said, "It's a lot for one person, are you sure you'll be okay?" I knew I could totally finish it, so I said "Yes, it's fine" and ordered, haha.

What kind of dessert is the Picadamia Platter?

Here are the Picadamia Platter and the iced americano (decaf) I ordered. I've been cutting back on sweets lately, so I tried to pick the least sweet dessert I could.

The Picadamia Platter at Pip Espresso Bar has macadamia nuts, other nuts and Hwangchi cheese (golden cheese powder) on top of cream cheese. It also comes with a little honey and biscuits.

You put the cream cheese and nuts on a biscuit and eat it. This is seriously, truly delicious. The nutty richness of the cream cheese and nuts, the sweetness of the honey and the crunch of the biscuit all come together, so you get lots of different textures in one dessert.

It isn't just savory, it has a touch of sweetness too, which I think made it even better. After something sweet, you have to have coffee, right? With my mouth full of sweetness, time to wash it down with the iced americano.

How does the iced decaf americano at Pip Espresso Bar taste?

I was surprised that the iced decaf americano at Pip Espresso Bar tasted so strong even though it's decaf. If you just drank it, you wouldn't know it was decaf, it was that rich and good.

I came to this café wanting good coffee, so I was even happier with it. If you want a really good coffee, come to Pip Espresso Bar in Yeonnam-dong!
