Gangnam café by Dosan Park for laptop work and valet: Deep House
In short
Deep House is a café by day and a lounge by night, right in front of Dosan Park in Gangnam, Seoul. Before a meeting near Seonjeongneung Station, the writer spent 1–2 hours at Deep House with a laptop over an iced peanut latte, an iced americano and Philadelphia cheesecake, and noticed the black interior, digital art and displays of artist-customised products. Deep House is a relaxed spot for daytime work, and valet parking at 5,000 won for 2 hours makes parking around Dosan Park easy.

I had a meeting at Seonjeongneung Station in the late afternoon, but I'd come out early and had a floating gap of 1–2 hours. So I decided to get a bit of work done at a nearby café and stopped by Deep House near Dosan Park (okay, it's actually right in front of Dosan Park). Deep House runs as a lounge in the evening, but during the day you can use it as a café.
Where is Deep House?
Deep House is on the 1st floor of 15-6 Eonju-ro 152-gil, Gangnam-gu, Seoul, right in front of Dosan Park. It runs as a café by day and a lounge by night.

Is parking available at Deep House? How much is valet?
Yes, you can park, and valet costs ₩5,000 for 2 hours. That's much cheaper than a private car park, at least.
There were about two parking spots in front of the shop, so I parked there, and the valet guy came over and told me to leave my car key. Then he suddenly moved my car, and I was like, huh? Turns out he parked it in the car park of the building across the street. I guess the spot I'd taken was reserved for the building's tenants. Designated parking, probably...
What are Deep House's interior and seating like?

The interior at Deep House seems to be all about black. The sofas, tables and lighting are all black. The bar fits about 8 people, and behind it are tables set up for 4–8 people.

Digital art and artist-custom product displays
One wall has a digital art piece that looks like dripping paint, and I just zoned out staring at it.

There were Gucci, New Balance and Nike items on display, and I wondered if they were limited editions, so I looked them up. They seem to be artist-custom pieces.
- New Balance: the New Balance 990v3 series
- Gucci: the Gucci Diana tote bag series
- Nike: the Air Force 1 Low series

Is it good for working on a laptop during the day?
Deep House is relaxed during the day. I'd brought my laptop, so I took a nice sunny seat. They say red lighting fills the place in the evening, but we came in the bright hours, so I didn't see it myself.
The chandelier hanging from the ceiling was unusual. It's the Rockcoco Transparent Chandelier by the Dutch designer Demakersvan, from Fatboy. It's a reinterpretation of 18th-century French rococo, and apparently it's waterproof enough to be used for camping. On Ohouse (Today's House), it's priced in the ₩1.7 million range.
What are Deep House's menu and prices?

An iced americano at Deep House is ₩5,500, and the other lattes made with coffee are ₩8,000. I was curious about the Jack Daniel's americano, but I had to drive, so I held back :(
- Iced americano ₩5,500
- Lattes ₩8,000
- Matcha (tea) and teas ₩6,000–8,000
- Ade ₩12,000
- Philadelphia cheesecake ₩6,000
Prices run slightly higher than an ordinary café, but they're reasonable for the Dosan Park area.
How were the peanut latte and americano?

At Deep House I ordered an iced peanut latte, an iced americano and one Philadelphia cheesecake. The owner is a little shy, but kind, haha. About 5 minutes after I ordered, they brought out the coffee and cake.

Funny thing: the black clump at the bottom of the cup looked like something settled, so I tried to shake it up with my straw, but it turned out to be glass. (I was stabbing at it thinking it was coffee, so embarrassing.)
I needed a bit of sugar and caffeine right then, and the peanut latte was nicely sweet. The americano had low acidity and a nutty flavor, which suited my taste.

What about the Philadelphia cheesecake?
Deep House's Philadelphia cheesecake (₩6,000) came topped with chocolate sauce and chocolate powder. Scooping it with a fork, it was dense and rich. (Costco flashed through my head for a second and vanished.) Since cream cheese is the base, the cheese flavor is strong.
There was also a chocolate piece next to it. I was told it was dark chocolate, so I popped it in without thinking, and it was 100% chocolate. A very healthy? chocolate!
How to find the Deep House entrance

For reference, the place in the photo is the Deep House entrance. Don't get confused! The door on the right leads upstairs.
