Gyukatsu date near Gangnam Station: striploin and cloud udon, Ichigyu

I recently went on a date in Gangnam, Seoul, for the first time in a while. I spent a lot of time around Gangnam Station and Sinnonhyeon Station back in my school days, and honestly there was never a real standout restaurant..? (If you know one, recommend it, haha.) But I heard a new Gangnam Station restaurant had opened, so off we went! hahaha It's the gyukatsu place Ichigyu!! I've written this honestly and in detail, so please read to the end :)

Ichigyu Gangnam Sinnonhyeon Branch: hours and parking

Ichigyu Gangnam Sinnonhyeon Branch is open daily 11:30–22:00, with break time 15:00–17:00 and last order at 21:00. There's no dedicated parking lot, so you'll need a nearby paid lot. The address is 2F, 19 Bongeunsa-ro 4-gil, Gangnam-gu, Seoul.

What's the atmosphere at Ichigyu like?

Ichigyu is on the 2nd floor of the building!

The inside looks smallish, but there were actually quite a lot of tables, and I liked the quiet, Japanese feel haha There are so many Japanese restaurants around Gangnam Station, but this was my first gyukatsu in Gangnam, so I was excited haha

What's on the Ichigyu menu?

On the menu, the gyukatsu comes in two kinds, tenderloin and striploin, and there's plenty more: steak, rice bowls, tantanmen (spicy sesame noodles), Japanese curry, cloud udon, mentaiko cream udon and so on haha The prices seemed reasonable for Gangnam, too. We ordered the striploin gyukatsu + steki rice bowl + cloud udon!

Why Ichigyu is a great Gangnam date spot

First, an ice-cold Coke Zero haha

One reason I recommend Ichigyu as a Gangnam date spot is that the little details were so cute. Doesn't the rice come out so prettily? It's the rice served with the gyukatsu, and there's a lot of it hahaha What a pretty spread hahaha Worth coming here for a Gangnam date, right? haha

The gyukatsu looks insane too>< It's Ichigyu's signature dish, so you have to order at least one haha

How does Ichigyu's steki rice bowl taste?

Ichigyu's steak rice bowl also came out neat and so tasty. There was plenty of meat, so no complaints. Look at that color, right? hahaha

Above all, the steak was really tender, not tough at all, and so good!! A proper Gangnam Station favorite haha Meat is always right><

There are bean sprouts under the steki rice bowl, so the crunch is great, and the sweet-salty sauce is so good hahaha The whole combination really works.

How do you eat the striploin gyukatsu at Ichigyu?

The striploin gyukatsu at Ichigyu is top quality too, and I liked that the outer coating isn't thick. It comes with salad and wasabi as well.

You grill the gyukatsu yourself on a personal mini grill, which is convenient hahaha and delicious.

Tender haha and the beefy aroma is so good too!!!

The portion of gyukatsu is surprisingly big, so it was great for sharing between two. Tender gyukatsu like this should please pretty much everyone. A must-eat at Ichigyu!

What does Ichigyu's cloud udon taste like?

The cloud udon is totally photo-ready from the first look. They say you can only get it at Ichigyu, and it was tender haha and nutty and tasty. Strangely, I even tasted something like tteokguk (rice cake soup)!?

It's a place where you can try different meats and dishes, so I enjoyed it. Perfect for a Gangnam date!
