Jeju café after flower viewing with kids: mango bingsu at Lala Cafe

Lala Cafe is a dessert café on Namjo-ro in Jocheon-eup, Jeju, known for its apple mango bingsu. It was the weekend, so we'd taken the kids out to see the flowers, and on the way home I dropped in at Lala Cafe (라라 카페), a Jocheon dessert spot people say has great apple mango bingsu!

Is parking easy at Lala Cafe?

Lala Cafe has a very large private parking lot in front of the building, so parking and getting in was easy! I heard it has been selected as a "good business" (착한 가게).

Here's the inside~! The showcase holds all kinds of breads you can grab for a quick bite. It's a bakery café, so it's a really good place to enjoy bread, drinks and coffee.

Where does Lala Cafe get its apple mangoes?

They say Lala Cafe uses only apple mango produced in Jeju, from Jeju Theme Farm (테마농원), which supplies the Shilla Hotel. Jeju fresh apple mango is apparently in production from April to November~

Lala Cafe menu and what we ordered

The brass-bowl (sinseollo) bingsu piled with apple mango serves 4, and you can also get it in a 2-person size~ There are also smoothies, yogurt smoothies and juice made with apple mango, plus an old-style red bean bingsu on snowflake ice.

On top of that, the menu is packed with coffee, tea, ade, smoothies, cakes and bakery items~! I ordered the Jeju fresh apple mango bingsu for 2 and 2 hot vanilla lattes.

While waiting for our order I peeked into the Lala Cafe showcase~ It was full of bakery items that go well with coffee! There was salt bread, pound cake, and even a cream cheese bread shaped like Geomeun Oreum (검은오름, the Black Oreum volcanic cone).

Blueberry loaf, cheese bomb loaf, even chocolate loaf! There were lots of kinds of sliced bread on display too.

Apple mango bingsu for 2: how does it look and taste?

Not long after we ordered, the apple mango bingsu came out piled with fresh apple mango ^^ It didn't have a scoop of ice cream on top like in the picture..^^;; but the big, juicy-looking chunks of apple mango heaped on top looked so pretty I couldn't take my eyes off it haha

So glossy~ doesn't it look great!?^^ Plain mango on top would already be delicious, but apple mango, which is even better!! My mouth was watering before I even took a bite.

The bingsu came with condensed milk and apple mango puree~ and the hot vanilla lattes landed on the table too!

I started with a piece of mango! Wow~ so soft and chewy, and the sweet apple mango melting away in my mouth was superb!

My son enjoyed it too ^^ He loves mango, but apple mango is pricey so I haven't been able to treat him often..haha Seeing him eat it so happily made me feel good!

Mixing condensed milk and apple mango puree into the bingsu

After a few pieces of mango~ we decided to drizzle on the condensed milk and mix it up!

Apple mango is great on its own.. but if I picked out all the mango first I'd be left with just plain milk bingsu later, haha so we mixed it well ^^ Even just the condensed milk made it sweeter, with a deeper flavor!

And once we added the apple mango puree that came with it, we could taste the sweetness of the apple mango even more~!

Maybe because it came in a chilled bowl, it didn't melt quickly, so we could enjoy cold snowflake bingsu the whole time.

How is the coffee at Lala Cafe?

It's not just the apple mango bingsu that's good at Lala Cafe! The coffee was really good too~ I don't know which beans they use.. but the coffee was nutty and so nice^^ Personally I prefer nutty coffee to acidic coffee~ so it suited my taste perfectly!
