In short
Haenyeo Sotbap Suseong Direct Store (해녀솥밥 수성직영점) is a Korean restaurant on Cheongsu-ro in Suseong, Daegu, specialising in sotbap (rice cooked in a hot pot) and abalone dishes. What kind of place is Haenyeo Sotbap Suseong?
Haenyeo Sotbap Suseong Direct Store (해녀솥밥 수성직영점) is a sotbap (pot rice) Korean restaurant at 65 Cheongsu-ro, 1st floor, Suseong-gu, Daegu, where you can have a hearty meal of abalone sotbap, abalone porridge or seafood ttukbaegi (earthenware pot stew). A great pick when you want clean, neat Korean food in Suseong, Daegu!
This time I visited Haenyeo Sotbap Suseong 🤍 The menu is varied, from pot rice to abalone porridge and seafood ttukbaegi, so it's easy to pick what suits your taste.

The place is clean and the staff service was great too, so I left in a good mood haha

Atmosphere and baby chairs at Haenyeo Sotbap Suseong
The restaurant is clean, the tables are roomy, and baby chairs are available, which makes it good for family meals. The moment I walked in, it felt well kept throughout. The interior is calm and a little upscale, so it's comfortable to eat in.
The tables are generous and the space feels pleasant, so it would also suit a family meal or a lunch with your parents. What I liked most was that they have baby chairs! When eating out with a little one, I always check for a baby chair first, so with that covered it works well for families.
And the staff were really kind. They looked after the little things and were pleasant to deal with, so I was satisfied the whole meal. Food matters, but when the atmosphere and service are good too, you want to come back, right? haha
The eel sotbap was sold out, so what did I order?

That day I ordered three dishes: abalone porridge, abalone sotbap and seafood ttukbaegi. The eel sotbap, which I was looking forward to most, was sold out on the day I visited.
The menu was more varied than I expected. There are different pot rice options, abalone porridge, seafood ttukbaegi and more, so everyone in your group can order what they feel like eating.
- Abalone porridge
- Abalone sotbap
- Seafood ttukbaegi
Honestly, the eel sotbap was one of the dishes I was most excited about that day T_T Of all days, it was sold out when I came, so I couldn't order it. I had wanted to try it ever since seeing the menu, so it was such a shame. Still, I got to try a nice range with the abalone porridge, abalone sotbap and seafood ttukbaegi. I'll definitely have the eel sotbap next time!
What do the banchan (side dishes) look like?

The banchan come in a variety, neatly arranged, so the table looks generous. Even before the food arrived, I was looking forward to the banchan. At a Korean restaurant the main dish matters, but how the side dishes come out matters more than you'd think, right?

The banchan came in several kinds, neatly set out, and the whole table looked really generous. Each one was served cleanly and the overall spread was tidy, so it was nice to look at too.

It's not just a main dish sitting there alone; you get all sorts of side dishes to go with it, so it feels like a proper Korean meal!

The side dishes are well put together, good with the pot rice or the ttukbaegi, and I liked being able to enjoy a little of many flavors. A neatly set table like this somehow feels reassuring and puts you in a good mood haha
How is the abalone porridge?
The abalone porridge is nutty and gentle on the stomach, a good pick for an easy meal. First, the abalone porridge! If you love abalone dishes, you'll probably be happy that there's porridge as well as pot rice.

Especially when visiting as a family, everyone may want something different, so having this many choices seems like a real plus.
Signature abalone sotbap, finished with sungnyung

The signature abalone sotbap is freshly cooked pot rice eaten with abalone, and you finish with sungnyung (toasted-rice tea). Pot rice has that appealing warmth and fluffy texture of freshly cooked rice, right? Eating it with abalone makes it feel a bit more special than an ordinary bowl of rice. With the various banchan, I could enjoy lots of different flavors, which was nice.

If you like a neat Korean set meal, the pot rice menu is worth a look.

And sungnyung to finish hehehe Ending with warm sungnyung made it feel so satisfying!
Seafood ttukbaegi and tablet ordering
The seafood ttukbaegi is a warm, brothy dish that's good to share alongside the pot rice, and you can order by tablet too. Last, the seafood ttukbaegi! It has a different charm from the pot rice, so it was nice to order together and share.

With a warm soup dish, it's easy to eat with rice and side dishes, and the table felt even richer.

You can also order extras by tablet during the meal, which was so convenient! Ordering abalone porridge, abalone sotbap and seafood ttukbaegi together was a different kind of fun from eating just one dish. Whether you're craving pot rice or a soup dish, I thought it's a good place to visit.

Is Haenyeo Sotbap Suseong worth going back to?
I was happy with Haenyeo Sotbap Suseong: the restaurant is clean and the banchan come out neatly. Coffee and slush are also available for dessert.

Above all, the service was good, and with baby chairs available it seems fine to visit with a child. And there's coffee and slush for dessert too!! The varied menu is another plus, since a group can each order to their own taste!
I sadly couldn't try the eel sotbap that day because it was sold out, but that just gives me a reason to come back haha Next time I definitely want to try it. If you're in Suseong, Daegu and fancy neat pot rice or a tidy Korean set meal, give Haenyeo Sotbap Suseong a visit 🤍
