Katsu restaurant near Gimhae Outlets: cheese katsu at Jeongseong Katsu

In short

Jeongseong Katsu Jangyu-koa branch (정성카츠 장유코아점) is a pork cutlet restaurant in the Koa shopping arcade alley in Jangyu, Gimhae, that uses 100% Korean domestic pork. After shopping at Gimhae Premium Outlets, a friend and I had lunch there: a Western-style pork cutlet set and a cheese katsu, with a fruit-based house sauce and mozzarella that stretches seemingly forever. Avoid the 12–1pm lunch peak and Jeongseong Katsu is a relaxed, no-wait lunch stop.

After a fun shopping trip with a friend to Gimhae Premium Outlets, we were trying to figure out lunch and ended up at Jeongseong Katsu Jangyu-koa branch, which has been getting buzz lately as a Jangyu, Gimhae favorite. It's popular enough that lunchtime usually means a long wait, so we went a little before the peak and got to enjoy a relaxed, perfect meal with no waiting at all.

Today's post in short

After a long-overdue shopping day with a friend at Gimhae Premium Outlets, I was craving a proper crispy-on-the-outside, juicy-on-the-inside katsu that wasn't too heavy — so we headed to Jeongseong Katsu Jangyu-koa branch, often named the top pork cutlet spot in Jangyu. Compared to other Japanese or Western-style cutlet restaurants nearby, this place stands out for insisting on 100% domestic Korean pork, plus its cleanliness and thoughtful little touches, so we chose it without hesitation.

What's on the menu?

The lineup was varied, from the signature mixed katsu — letting you try pork loin, tenderloin, and cheese all at once — to a spicy pork cutlet.

You can also add extra pieces by cut, so there's plenty of room to customize. We ordered the soft, retro-style Western pork cutlet set and the cheese katsu packed with savory flavor. Ordering was easy — just tap it in on the tablet at the table.

What did it actually taste like?

Western-style pork cutlet set

A big cutlet arrives generously covered in a carefully simmered signature sauce. Since it's 100% domestic Korean pork, the meat is thick and substantial.

Even with the sauce soaked in, the crunch of the breading stayed alive. Unlike cheaper store-bought sauces with that strong, overly sweet ketchup flavor, this one had a refined sweetness from fruit and deep savory notes, staying light and never cloying to the last bite.

Inside the crispy breading, savory mozzarella cheese fills every gap. Take a bite and the cheese stretches endlessly, delivering an explosive savoriness.

Crispy outside, packed full of savory mozzarella inside — the cheese katsu delivers flavor in every bite.

Dip it lightly in the katsu sauce, or top it with fresh wasabi and a pinch of salt — either way, the meat's natural flavor and the cheese's richness come together perfectly.

Personally, I love dipping it in salt!

Various sauces prepared on the table

There's a variety of sauces on the table, so it's easy to enjoy it however you like.

Stir-fried kimchi served as a side dish

The kimchi side was stir-fried kimchi too, which I personally liked even more.
