Achasan Station galbitang with public parking: Achasan Tong Galbitang
In short
Achasan Tong Galbitang is a galbitang (beef short rib soup) restaurant on Jayang-ro near Exit 2 of Achasan Station in Gwangjin, Seoul. After a family hike up Achasan, one bowl of the Wongi Hoebok Wang Galbitang (energy-recovery short rib soup, 16,000 won) came with three big rib bones in the earthenware pot, plus a self-serve bar of doraji muchim (seasoned bellflower root), house-made kkakdugi (radish kimchi) and 17-grain misugaru. Parking is easy at the Guui 2-dong residential public lot across the street, and Achasan Tong Galbitang is worth a return trip as a restorative post-hike meal.

The weather's been so unpredictable lately, right? During seasons like this I always crave hot soup. 😊 I recently went hiking up Achasan with my family, and on the way down we stopped for a hearty bowl of galbitang (short rib soup) — it warmed me right up and honestly tasted even better than I expected.
Where is Achasan Tong Galbitang, and what are its hours?
Achasan Tong Galbitang is a galbitang restaurant at 1F, 306 Jayang-ro, Gwangjin-gu, Seoul. It's open Monday–Friday 11:00–21:00, with a break time from 15:30–17:00. Takeout is available, and you can use the public parking lot in the Guui 2-dong residential area right across the street.
Where to park: the Guui 2-dong public lot and its rates
For parking, it's most convenient to use the public parking lot in the Guui 2-dong residential area directly across from the restaurant.

It's only open from 8am to 6pm, and rates are pretty reasonable — ₩150 per 5 minutes, or ₩1,800 per hour. I lucked out and found a spot right away, but if it's full, you can use the Guui 2-dong complex building parking lot instead.
If you're taking public transit, come out Exit 2 of Achasan Station, head into the Samil Jangeo alley, and keep walking straight along the village bus route — you'll find Achasan Tong Galbitang.
Waiting time and the dining room at Achasan Tong Galbitang
There were waiting chairs set up outside, suggesting the wait can get long at times. But thanks to the nature of galbitang, table turnover is fast, so seats opened up pretty quickly. 😊

Inside, there's plenty of table space. The place was buzzing with everyone from families to post-hike diners.

Ordering the 16,000 won energy-recovery wang galbitang
There was a range of menu items, including braised beef short ribs and arongsatae (beef shank) galbitang, but I wanted to try the signature basic dish, so I ordered the 'Wongi Hoebok Wang Galbitang' (₩16,000).

After ordering, they brought out a cup of heotgae (hovenia) fruit tea — it had this nutty flavor and was really good. 🤭

Self-serve bar: doraji muchim, bori gangjeong and 17-grain misugaru
While waiting for the galbitang, I went to grab some side dishes at the self-serve bar, and there was a lot to pick at. 😆

They had doraji muchim (seasoned bellflower root), one of my favorites, so I scooped out a portion.

Doraji muchim at a galbitang restaurant felt a little unusual, but it turned out to be a real standout. The spicy-tangy seasoning paired with the tender meat cut through the richness and added great texture. 👍😋 The boritang jang (barley crisps) were also crunchy and delicious.

They were selling them for ₩3,000 each, or ₩5,000 for 2 bags — I still regret not buying some to take home. 😭

Next to that was 17-grain misugaru (grain powder drink), so I tried a cup — nutty and sweet, the perfect palate cleanser.

How does the galbitang with three rib bones taste?
Finally, the long-awaited Wongi Hoebok Wang Galbitang arrived. 🤩

Inside the stone pot were three whole, huge rib bones!
At a lot of other places these days, you get one rib bone with barely any meat on it, but here the meat was genuinely substantial.

I cut the meat into bite-sized pieces with scissors, and it was so tender it practically fell off the bone.

The meat had zero gamey smell, and dipped in the special sauce, it just melted in my mouth. The broth was rich too — one spoonful in, and I could feel my body being restored. Having a hot bowl of galbitang after sweating it out on a hike felt like the perfect choice.
House-made kkakdugi and takeout orders
When it comes to galbitang, kimchi is a must! Apparently Achasan Tong Galbitang makes their kkakdugi (radish kimchi) in-house. Maybe that's why it had such a crisp, tangy flavor that paired perfectly with the galbitang. I lost count of how many times I refilled it — it was that good. haha
The meal was so memorable that I got some galbitang to take home for my family too. The packaging was neat and tidy, so I could enjoy the same hearty flavor at home as I did in the restaurant.

Is Achasan Tong Galbitang worth it after an Achasan hike?
This galbitang was great for recovering after a hike, and just as satisfying as a hearty standalone meal. 😆 Between the generous bowl of galbitang, the house-made kkakdugi, the standout doraji muchim, and the sweet dessert bar, I was completely satisfied on every front. I'm definitely coming back the next time I hike Achasan. If you're looking for a good restaurant near Achasan Station, definitely stop by! 👍🤩
