Camel Orzo is an Italian restaurant in Seo-gu, Gwangju, serving pasta, pizza, and steak. On a fifth visit, I had the Basil Calzone & Tomato Caprese and Bottarga Cuttlefish Aglio Pasta, and loved the bright lemon oil pasta and build-your-own calzone. Verdict: a great pick for dates or sharing several dishes with a group.

Korean restaurant in Gwangju for perilla leaf beef wraps: Dugeori

Dugeori Usintang Gwangju Imam Branch is a Korean restaurant in Nam-gu, Gwangju, serving galbitang and spicy beef hot pot. After reserving, I enjoyed the 22,000 won Usin jeongol and 14,000 won galbitang, from perilla leaf wraps to tender ribs and scorched-rice pot rice. Verdict: a dinner I would happily return for.
