Technopolis, Daegu pork rib restaurant with steamed egg: Galbijeong

In short

Galbijeong Hyeonpung Technopolis is a pork rib restaurant with a kids' playroom in Dalseong, Daegu. The blogger visited with two children and ordered 3 servings of pork ribs, rice, doenjang jjigae (soybean paste stew) and an extra steamed egg, and a staff member grilled the meat from start to finish. The basic side dishes included yukjeon (pan-fried beef) and yangnyeom gejang (seasoned raw crab), and a Naver reservation coupon added grilled cheese, making Galbijeong a satisfying family dinner.

Pork rib table setting at Galbijeong Hyeonpung Technopolis branch

A Hyeonpung favorite with a kids' playroom, perfect for the whole family eating out — my review of Galbijeong

Visit photo at Hyeonpung Galbijeong with kids' playroom

Hi, this is Haengbok's mom! I'm here to introduce Galbijeong Technopolis branch, a spot with delicious ribs and a kids' playroom that makes eating out so much easier. The food's great and the service is super friendly too — really satisfied, so here's my honest review.

Exterior of Galbijeong Technopolis branch with easy parking

Always popular, haha. The taste is top-notch, but the location, easy parking, and the playroom too — there's really no better spot for a family meal out.

Galbijeong Hyeonpung Technopolis hours and how to reserve

This Hyeonpung favorite is open from 11:30 am to 10:30 pm. Just note that last order is at 9:40 pm.

Turns out you can book through Catch Table too! If you reserve ahead, you can be seated right away without waiting, haha. So convenient, haha.

Inside Galbijeong: the dining room and self-serve bar

The inside is way bigger than it looks from outside.

It's spacious and comfortable, not cramped at all, with plenty of tables and a separate room space, so it looked perfect for family meals or group gatherings.

Fresh vegetables and ssamjang (seasoned soybean paste) are available at the self-serve bar for extra helpings! Totally fresh — since Galbijeong has good turnover, the vegetables get restocked quickly, so the freshness at the self-serve bar stays great. There's also a really wide variety of veggies.

Why Galbijeong works with kids: the playroom

When eating out with kids, a place with a playroom is a must 💜👍. I could see my child playing while eating, which made things so much easier. Not every table has a full view, but from most tables you can watch the kids playing while you eat, so it was a relaxed meal.

Ordering from the kiosk at each table

They also had a wide range of drinks, including quite a few kinds of wine. Ordering through the kiosk was accurate and fast — every table has its own individual kiosk. Today we ordered the kids' favorite: 3 servings of pork ribs, rice, and doenjang jjigae.

The side dish spread, with yukjeon included

Before the meat arrived, a generous spread of side dishes to go with it was laid out. Once the meat's nearly done, grilling some kimchi in sesame oil — that's basically an art form, haha.

Plates of side dishes including seasoned crab at Galbijeong

Galbijeong's cheat-code seasoned crab! Every single side dish gets as much care and love as the main meat — Galbijeong really is on another level.

The fact that yukjeon comes out as a basic side dish is next-level class~~ Whoa, amazing, haha. (There is an extra charge if you order more yukjeon.)

On birthdays you get a bottle of wine; pregnant guests and large families get benefits; and if you reserve through Naver in advance, you get a free grill-cheese!

What makes the charcoal fire so strong

The reason Galbijeong's meat is so juicy and delicious has a secret in the charcoal grilling too. You need to grill at just the right temperature for the fat and lean meat to combine for the best flavor, so they serve it at a heat that's neither too strong nor too weak. It really made me feel how serious they are about the meat.

The lettuce jangajji made with Galbijeong's special sauce is tangy and sweet, and really whets your appetite.

You can order steamed egg as an add-on, haha. Our second kid loves steamed egg so we ordered it, and it came out as generous as a bomb-style steamed egg, haha.

Pork ribs grilled by the staff from start to finish

Galbijeong's main event! The pork ribs themselves.

At Galbijeong, the staff grill the meat from start to finish. When eating out with kids, it's chaos trying to feed them and grill at the same time, so this was such a great service, ㅠㅠ. Thank you so much.

They grilled it to just the right point, so all we had to do was eat — really convenient.

Galbijeong's pork ribs aren't sweet in an artificial or overly savory way — more like a subtle sweetness that keeps you coming back for more? It was tender and truly delicious.

The grilled cheese from the Naver reservation coupon

The grill-cheese we got as a coupon from booking through Naver Reservation~~ I really recommend booking through Naver before coming to Galbijeong.

Kids' taste buds never lie~ They ate so well, haha.

Dipped first in the special garlic sauce~~~ Wow~~~ Amazing, since the sauce isn't overpowering it doesn't burn on the charcoal, which I liked. Subtly charred outside and moist inside~~ dipped in that special garlic sauce, wow~~~

Grilling garlic scapes and garlic in sesame oil and eating them together is also a delicacy~~ Galbijeong has so many side dishes to pair with the meat that they really take the flavor up another level.

Honestly, pork ribs are always good, but Galbijeong's pork ribs went beyond just delicious — it was genuinely moving. Tender texture, juices bursting out, and it's true what they say that the meat closer to the bone tastes best, really, haha. Truly ribs you can gnaw right off the bone! Haha.

Ribs eaten with well-fermented kimchi and green onion kimchi — a flavor you never get tired of, no matter how much you eat. I think this combination might only be possible at Galbijeong, haha. Wait, what is even happening ㅠㅠ juicy and melting away, wow~~ Everyone, you have to come to Galbijeong!!

How to grill the pork ribs for the best flavor

Instead of grilling it completely well-done, I'd recommend grilling it thick like a steak and enjoying it tender while there's still a hint of pink inside. Truly good meat is best as-is~~ Ribs with a touch of wasabi, ugh ㅜㅜ — this will make you forget every pork rib you've ever had. Galbijeong really is the best.

The kimchi also comes rinsed, so it tastes cleaner. Sizzled in sesame oil, it's a match made in heaven with the meat. Stronger charcoal heat isn't always better — theirs isn't too strong, just right, which was enough to bring out the meat's best flavor.

Wrapped in lettuce jangajji, it's tangy and sweet and even more delicious — not gonna keep that a secret~~

Dessert at Galbijeong: yogurt for kids, coffee for adults

They even took care of dessert for the kids ㅠㅠ such great service, good good.

Yogurt given as dessert for the kids

For adult dessert, there are two options ready: instant mix coffee and brewed coffee, haha.

Finishing the meal with doenjang jjigae

The doenjang jjigae (soybean paste stew) was just as delicious as the meat. After stuffing yourself on meat at a barbecue place, you need a warm bowl of doenjang jjigae with a spoonful of rice at the end to feel like the meal's properly finished, haha. Galbijeong's doenjang jjigae had a savory, umami-rich broth that went really well with the meat. Ladling it over a spoonful of rice made the rice disappear fast.

Rounding things out with rice and doenjang jjigae on top of the meat made it a really filling meal.

Is Galbijeong worth it for a family dinner in Technopolis?

Galbijeong, a Hyeonpung favorite, was a great family outing spot for eating meat with kids. Especially for families visiting with children, having a playroom felt like the biggest plus. If you're looking for a family dining spot in Technopolis, or a Technopolis restaurant where you can comfortably enjoy meat with your kids, it's worth a visit.
