I'd bookmarked this place ever since I heard a new shabu-shabu buffet opened near my house, and finally visited for a weekday lunch family outing during the kids' school break.

I went in thinking it was just a shabu-shabu buffet, but once I got there the variety of buffet dishes was huge, and best of all the sushi was unlimited too — I was so happy ◡̎

Where is Shabre Garden Ulsan Nam-gu Branch, and where do you park?

Shabre Garden Ulsan Nam-gu Branch, my pick for good buffet food in Nam-gu, Ulsan, is on the 2nd floor of a medical building next to the vinyl shop toward Suam Market in Yaeum-dong.

Parking was easy too — if you use the public parking lot you get a parking discount, so it was convenient to visit by car.

Maybe because it's newly opened, the whole place was clean and bigger than I expected.

There were plenty of tables and even baby chairs, so it seemed great for a family outing with kids.

Weekday lunch price and the 100-minute time limit

Prices at Shabre Garden, one of the good buffet spots in Nam-gu, Ulsan, are: adults (weekday lunch) ₩24,900, adults (weekday dinner) ₩29,900, adults (weekend/holiday) ₩31,900, elementary school students ₩16,900, and preschool children (36 months–7 years) ₩8,900.

The time limit is 100 minutes, and if there's a wait, it's convenient to put your name in through Catch Table.

Unlimited sushi and the vegetable and rice paper wrap corner

Once seated, you order from the kiosk at the table, choose your broth, and then bring over the shabu-shabu ingredients and buffet food yourself.

The first thing that caught my eye was the sushi! Out of every shabu-shabu buffet I've been to in Ulsan, this one had the most variety and the best quality!

The vegetables, the basics of shabu-shabu, were fresh and neatly displayed, so I first loaded up on assorted vegetables and mushrooms to my taste.

I also grabbed rice paper wrap ingredients — part of the fun of a shabu-shabu buffet is picking whatever you want.

What's on the salad bar at Shabre Garden?

From salad to tteokbokki (spicy rice cakes), Chuncheon-style dakgalbi (spicy stir-fried chicken), seafood stir-fried udon, pasta, bacon green beans, assorted savory pancakes, pizza, and chicken — there was so much variety to mix and match alongside the shabu-shabu.

Kids loved the pizza and crispy fried items, and the salad bar also had plenty the kids could enjoy, like fruit, cake, and jelly.

And one more thing! Unlimited draft beer! You just grab a mug from the fridge and pour as much as you like, so it's perfect for gatherings or work dinners too.

Half-and-half broth shabu-shabu when you're dining with a child

After ordering from the kiosk, you choose between vegetable broth, jjamppong broth, or half-and-half, and I went with half-and-half.

Whenever I come with the kids we always end up with plain broth only, so I was so happy they had the half-and-half option-

Since the pot was split in two, I divided our favorite vegetables and shabu-shabu ingredients into each side to cook them the way we liked.

As the vegetables wilted down and added their flavor to the broth, the soup got deeper and deeper, and everything disappeared so fast we ended up refilling the broth and vegetables once more.

We brought over more sushi in all kinds of variety, wrapped up rice paper rolls, and the kids were busy eating this and that too haha

Between the sushi, shabu-shabu, meat, more sushi, and all the salad bar dishes, plus waffles, fruit, and coffee, the 100 minutes flew by.

Baby dishes were also provided, so the kids could eat safely.

Danwoo ate the sweet-and-salty kimchi pancake the best out of everything.

I finished with a waffle topped with apple jam, strawberry jam, and cream, plus an affogato — the sweet ice cream mixed with coffee made a great dessert after the meal.
