Weekend dinner pork cutlets and Kirin beer in Dongtan: Kkot Gatsu

Kkot Gatsu Dongtan Main Branch is a Korean pork cutlet (handon tonkatsu) restaurant in the Dongtan Mokdong restaurant alley in Hwaseong, Gyeonggi. On a weekend evening the blogger ordered kkotkatsu (tenderloin cutlet) at 15,000 won, top loin cutlet at 14,000 won and a Kirin Ichiban beer at 4,500 won, then added cumin, lemon salt and truffle oil from the self-serve bar. The top loin had a thick, satisfying bite while the tenderloin melted away, so the table split both — and with baby chairs on hand, Kkot Gatsu works easily for family dinners with kids.

Hangover ramen in Sokcho with five extra char siu: Ichiba Ramen

Ichiba Ramen is a ramen restaurant near the Yeongnang-dong seafront in Sokcho, at 348 Jungang-ro. Stopping in the morning after a night of drinking, we ordered the special tonkotsu ramen at 15,000 won, the karai ramen at 9,500 won and five extra slices of char siu at 4,000 won. Ichiba Ramen's 30-hour tonkotsu broth was rich with no porky off-taste, and the spicy karai broth with torch-seared char siu made an ideal hangover meal.
