If you want proper yukhoe (Korean beef tartare) or mungtigi (Gyeongsang-style raw beef) near Sadang Station, remember Hampyeong Yukhoe Sadang Station Branch (함평육회 사당역점)!!!

Why I visited Hampyeong Yukhoe Sadang Station Branch at 33 weeks pregnant
I went to this Sadang yukhoe restaurant after hearing you can try mungtigi made from same-day-slaughtered hanwoo (Korean beef). I'm a yukhoe lover, so whenever I hear a place is good, I have to go, and this time was no different.

Honestly, I'm 33 weeks pregnant right now, so I can only eat raw food if it's really, truly fresh! But I wanted yukhoe sooo badly, so I hunted for a place known for freshness and ended up here.

- Parking: Bangbae Bokgae-doro Zone 1 public parking lot (₩250 per 5 minutes). Parking access is great!!
It's close to the station, so access goes without saying. And all through the meal I watched customers keep coming in even though there are plenty of good restaurants nearby, and thought, "Yep, makes sense."

Do you need a reservation on weekends?
I went at an awkward 3 PM on a weekend and it was still almost full. With so many people, I recommend booking through Naver or calling ahead! I booked on Naver, and the confirmation came right away^^!
Atmosphere inside
The restaurant is clean overall and the tables are spaced generously, so it's comfortable to eat in. It's great with friends, and a solid choice for a second round after a work dinner! The staff were friendly too, so the first impression was a good one. There's a restroom inside, which is quietly an important point, right? Very pleasant and nice.

It was a cool, rainy day and they had one side door open, which made it so atmospheric! I'm crazy about this kind of open-air pub vibe!!! I want to come back at night T_T

Same-day-slaughtered hanwoo yukhoe: how fresh was it?
The heart of Hampyeong Yukhoe Sadang Station Branch is clearly its same-day-slaughtered hanwoo. Freshness is everything with yukhoe, and the color was different from the moment it arrived. Bright red and glossy, just looking at it made my mouth water...

Side dishes and free-refill seonji soup
The side dishes are thoughtfully done, and the seonji soup (beef blood soup) is free to refill(!).
- Aged kimchi, chili peppers, garlic, ssamjang (seasoned soybean paste)
- Sesame oil dip and special red sauce served separately
- Free-refill seonji soup. The broth is this clear, which tells you how fresh it is~

This seonji soup really calls for alcohol; a bottle of soju would vanish in no time. And looking at the next table, the soju came out super cold, almost frozen solid, which felt like real attention to detail... I'm pregnant so I held back, of course T_T

Mungtigi, plain yukhoe and chadol yukhoe set
I wanted to try a bit of everything, mungtigi, plain yukhoe and the chadol yukhoe you rarely see elsewhere, so I ordered the set! I was hungry, so I added yukhoe bibimbap too (obviously delicious, haha).
But seriously, all three here, mungtigi, plain yukhoe and chadol yukhoe, are insane!! Just wild flavor.

What does the chadol yukhoe taste like?
The chadol yukhoe had a nuttiness I've never had anywhere else and it just melted in my mouth. The meat quality is one thing, but the sauce is also crazy good, haha.
The plain yukhoe goes without saying.. just order one of each, everything...

Mungtigi in Seoul: is it fishy?
The mungtigi here had no fishy smell at all, and it made my top 3 of all the mungtigi I've eaten. It's not easy to find mungtigi in Seoul, so I was so happy to enjoy it properly here. Mungtigi gets a bit fishy if it isn't really fresh, you know? So I only eat it at places that do it really well.
What I felt right after the first piece of mungtigi:
- Chewy and tender at the same time
- No fishy smell at all
- A nutty beef aroma that rises the more you chew T_T
It definitely has a different charm from regular yukhoe.

The best order to eat yukhoe here
I ate it exactly the way the instructions in the restaurant say, and I really recommend it. Eating in this order lets you taste the beef's flavor step by step, so it's much more delicious.
- 1. First piece: plain raw beef, nothing on it
- 2. Second: with sesame oil dip
- 3. Third: with the special red sauce
- 4. After that: mix it up with seaweed (gim) + side dishes

And lastly, this brown sauce that tastes like nakji tangtangi (chopped raw octopus) is amazing... haha. Seaweed plus this brown sauce was my favorite combo!
Is Hampyeong Yukhoe Sadang Station Branch corkage free?
Yes, it's free corkage! Bringing alcohol they don't sell is a total bargain, so next time I plan to bring wine or whisky.
People who love yukhoe with drinks will be really satisfied. I'll run here after giving birth and finishing breastfeeding, haha.

Hampyeong Yukhoe Sadang Station Branch at a glance
- Same-day-slaughtered hanwoo → top freshness, visiting around 3 PM recommended
- Mungtigi and yukhoe quality is truly, truly excellent
- Free corkage → a must for drinkers
- Clean restaurant + good atmosphere
If you're looking for a yukhoe spot near Sadang Station, I recommend Hampyeong Yukhoe Sadang Station Branch without hesitation. Personally, 200% chance I'll return...!!! Next time I'm going back with proper drinks.

If you're searching for a Sadang Station yukhoe / mungtigi / free-corkage spot, Hampyeong Yukhoe is a definite save. Hold a gathering here and you're guaranteed compliments!! (Not an ad line, nope haha)
