Shall we have a drink with some grilled eel~??
Why I picked grilled eel at a Seolleung Station bar after work
My girlfriend and I wanted some stamina food along with a drink, so we went to Manmok, a Seolleung Station spot where charcoal-grilled eel is the star. Conclusion first: it was good!
After a brutal day, how do you like to unwind? The easiest option is probably to get home, take a hot shower, eat something simple and tasty, and sprawl out on the bed or sofa. Killing time with dramas, variety shows and movies on OTT services like Netflix, Wavve, TVING and Disney+ is great too. Meeting friends, going on a date, a casual drive nearby, a cup of tea in a quiet café... there are plenty of ways to de-stress and rest.
And one of the most popular ways for office workers and many other adults to wrap up the day is, of course, a drink. After work, sitting with a like-minded coworker, friends who work nearby or your partner, sipping a drink with good snacks in a calm atmosphere, is just so relaxing and happy. Sometimes it really feels like it washes away the whole day's fatigue.
The snacks matter a bit when you drink, too. The most common choices are fried chicken or a Korean barbecue place, and there are also izakayas (Japanese-style pubs), Korean pubs and more. This time my girlfriend and I also wanted some stamina food, so we went to Manmok, a Seolleung Station bar in Gangnam with a nice atmosphere where charcoal-grilled eel is the main dish.
Let's shake off the day's fatigue~ :)

Where is Manmok near Seolleung Station, and what kind of place is it?
Manmok is a Japanese restaurant specializing in eel dishes in Daechi-dong, Gangnam, Seoul, near Seolleung Station. The address is 9 Seolleung-ro 82-gil, Gangnam-gu, Seoul (1st floor).
Nearby are central Gangnam neighborhoods like Yeoksam-dong, Nonhyeon-dong, Samseong-dong, Daechi-dong and Seocho-dong, plus Dogok-dong and Gaepo-dong. COEX, Hyundai Department Store and Jamsil Baseball Stadium aren't far either, so it's very easy to get to.
Where does Manmok's eel come from, and how is it grilled?
Manmok reportedly uses only freshwater eel from Gochang, North Jeolla, considered one of the best eel-producing regions in Korea. They say they manage everything strictly, from the source to selecting the eel, to serve good-quality eel.
It's not just the quality; the cooking method is different too. There are various eel styles, such as Kanto, Kansai and Nagoya, and Manmok sticks to the Kanto style, which brings out the eel's texture and its clean, light flavor.
