Samcheok bar with window seats: lunch omakase for four, Bomulseom
In short
Samcheok Bomulseom is an ocean-view gastropub on Suro Buin-gil, right in front of Jeungsan Beach in Samcheok, Gangwon. Four of us booked ahead on Naver, took one of the two window tables and ordered the 25,000-won lunch omakase, which ran from kimchi pancake, bossam and clear mussel soup to soy-marinated crab and abalone fried rice. With only two window tables, a reservation is essential at Samcheok Bomulseom, and the beach is a one-minute walk for a stroll after lunch.

I visited Samcheok Bomulseom (삼척보물섬), a Samcheok Sol Beach-area restaurant right in front of Jeungsan Beach — highly recommended as a Samcheok date spot!

A place that works as a fancy date spot and just as well for taking your parents on a family trip — let me introduce Samcheok Bomulseom.

Where do you park at Samcheok Bomulseom?
Arrived at Samcheok Bomulseom! The name Bomulseom (보물섬, "Treasure Island") is written big out front. You can park comfortably right in front of the store. If there's no spot, the lot in front of Jeungsan Beach was pretty roomy too. (1 minute from the Jeungsan Beach parking lot)

Booking a window table and the 25,000-won lunch omakase
The window view at Samcheok Bomulseom is amazing… the beach is right there in front of you, so if you have time to spare, I'd definitely recommend booking ahead! We ordered the Bomulseom lunch omakase ₩25,000 × 4, plus Terra ₩5,000 and Saero ₩5,000. (We booked in advance through Naver before visiting)
It seems like the lunch and dinner omakase dishes are a bit different from each other. Just a heads-up that the menu can change day to day! So what would show up today? 🥹

First course: kimchi pancake and bossam (boiled pork wraps)
First to appear was a crispy kimchi pancake (김치전)! Along with the thick, crispy pancake came bossam (보쌈, boiled pork wraps) and kimchi. The bossam was thick and had no off odor at all 👏🏻 They also gave us garlic and chili peppers to go with it, which made it even better haha. Starting off with delicious Korean food from the very first course!

Clear mussel soup to warm you up
A clear mussel soup came out next. It was the kind of light, clear broth that's perfect for curing a hangover — warm, and packed with mussels so it really warmed you up from the inside.
The owner briefly explained each dish as it came — "next up is the mussel soup" — and since the different dishes came out staggered over time, it made me curious about what would come next.

Best dish: soy-marinated crab and rice in the crab shell
Right around the time we finished the kimchi pancake haha, the main dish showed up at just the right moment. The best dish was this soy crab (간장게장). Salty and savory with none of the fishy smell crab dishes can have — I ate it up happily!! They even gave us plastic gloves to mix rice into the crab shell with. Such a thoughtful owner haha!!
Since it was for four people, four crabs came out. Lots of meat, and above all the umami was incredible ㅠㅠ. The warm rice even came drizzled with sesame oil — the ultimate pairing with the crab… 🩷🩷
Like this hahaha — before digging into the crab, scoop a little rice aside first. Mix it with a spoon and pile it onto the crab shell… honestly, the visual of this even now still blows my mind ㅠㅠ.

My parents' favorite: abalone fried rice
Abalone fried rice came out along with fish. My parents said this abalone fried rice was the tastiest dish of the meal. Plump, chewy abalone and prepared baby octopus, plus abalone shells filled with Bomulseom's own secret sauce. You're supposed to mix that sauce together with the abalone and rice.
The abalone quality was great on its own, but eating it with this sauce made the flavor even richer! It had been a long time since I'd eaten seafood this good without any fishy taste. Since seafood is the main focus here, I'd strongly recommend this place to any seafood lover~! ✨

The baby octopus and shrimp mixed into the fried rice were plump and springy — the real deal!! This fried rice was the final dish! By the time we finished it, everyone was completely full haha. With such a variety of dishes, we filled up quickly while still enjoying every bite.
Since the food comes out portioned per person, you can eat well without running short at Samcheok Bomulseom 🫶🏻

Inside Samcheok Bomulseom and seating for groups
A clean yet upscale interior! Besides the window-view seats, there's also group seating available, making this a great spot to stop by with family or friends on a Samcheok trip and enjoy a delicious omakase.
If you can, I'd recommend the window seats with the best ocean view (there are 2 tables). On a clear day you can even see the waves outside really well, and it's absolutely gorgeous..!!!!

A walk along Jeungsan Beach after lunch
An ocean view shot taken right in front of Samcheok Bomulseom. Isn't it beautiful? The distance is perfect for a walk along the beach before or after the meal! After enjoying a delicious lunch omakase, we took a nice seaside walk with the family ☺️ Before winter arrives, a cool walk by the sea felt really great too.
If you're visiting Samcheok and want to enjoy an upscale, varied omakase in front of the ocean view of Jeungsan Beach — if you're looking for a good-atmosphere date spot or a place to bring your parents — I highly recommend Samcheok Bomulseom, where you can enjoy a wide variety of dishes in style.
