Yeongdeungpo gamjatang with 5 big bones and parking tips: Dangsan
In short
Dangsan Ppyeodaegwi Haejangguk (당산뼈다귀해장국) is a Korean restaurant in Yeongdeungpo, Seoul, specializing in gamjatang (pork bone stew) and bone hangover soup, about a 7-minute walk from Yeongdeungpo-gu Office Station. After a day outdoors, two of us shared a small gamjatang with 5 big bones, potatoes and ugeoji (dried cabbage leaves), and it was filling enough to leave us stuffed, with tasty kkakdugi (radish kimchi) and napa cabbage kimchi on the side. Dangsan Ppyeodaegwi Haejangguk has no parking of its own, but a public lot is about a 6-minute walk away, so driving there is no problem.

Craving gamjatang near Yeongdeungpo-gu Office Station after a day outdoors
I stuffed myself with a small pot of gamjatang (pork bone stew) at Dangsan Ppyeodaegwi Haejangguk (당산뼈다귀해장국) near Yeongdeungpo-gu Office Station. On a chilly day, nothing beats sitting around a steaming pot of gamjatang with other people. I'd been out and about a lot today, so I was craving something hot and soupy.

How far is Dangsan Ppyeodaegwi Haejangguk from Yeongdeungpo-gu Office Station?
It's about a 7-minute walk from Yeongdeungpo-gu Office Station. That's walkable, so it didn't seem like a hassle to come without a car. If you're looking for a place to eat near Yeongdeungpo-gu Office and you're in the mood for something soupy, this is a good one to remember.

Where do you park at Dangsan Ppyeodaegwi Haejangguk?
The restaurant has no parking of its own. The public lot outside Yeongdeungpo-gu Office Station is about a 6-minute walk away. Roadside parking is also said to be possible on weekdays at lunchtime, from 11:30 to 14:00. Atmosphere and group meals
The inside was spotless and comfortable. The restaurant isn't big, but there are a decent number of tables, so it works well for a group meal. I went after the dinner rush and there were still quite a few customers. I could also see a fair number of takeout and delivery orders coming in.

The menu and what we ordered
The menu starts with gamjatang, then has bone hangover soup, stir-fried squid, squid and chive pancake, egg roll and steamed egg. You can add extra bones, fried rice, ugeoji, ramyeon noodles or steamed rice. We ordered the small gamjatang. I briefly thought about getting a single bowl of hangover soup, but that day I wanted plenty of meat and broth together, so I went with gamjatang.

Side dishes: kkakdugi and napa cabbage kimchi
The side dishes were kkakdugi (cubed radish kimchi) and napa cabbage kimchi. A good hangover-soup place is judged by its kimchi, and both were fantastic. Eating them with the gamjatang meat was so good. My expectations were already going up from the side dishes alone~

Is the small gamjatang enough for two?
Even though it's the small size, the portion was really generous, and the two of us felt like we were going to burst. It has 5 bones, and they are huge.
Gamjatang whets your appetite just from the bubbling pot. I put a bone on my small plate, picked off the meat, and sipped the broth in between, and my whole body warmed up.

I'm the type to eat one bone at a time rather than strip all the meat at once, and eating that way really felt like enjoying a whole pot of gamjatang. The meat clinging to the bones came in actual chunks. So generous... love it.

Eating gamjatang slowly in front of a bubbling pot
Above all, gamjatang tastes better when you eat it slowly in front of the boiling pot rather than rushing, right? There's the fun of picking meat off the bones, and the broth never cooled down, so it stayed warm to the end. Sharing one pot that day felt like a proper meal, not just filling up. The potatoes and ugeoji were great too, really great.

Thanks for the meal again today :)
