What is Sushi Ianen, the per-plate conveyor sushi near Nowon Station?
Sushi Ianen Nowon Station is a conveyor sushi restaurant near Nowon Station where you pay per plate, and I went with my son, who loves sushi. The best thing about conveyor sushi is that you can pick only the sushi you feel like eating.
These days there are all-you-can-eat conveyor sushi places too, but around Nowon Station only one or two places charge per plate. Sushi Ianen, good value among them, always has a lot of customers. Still, turnover is quick, so if you put your name on the Catchtable waiting list you won't wait long.
Sushi Ianen's opening-run service gives early guests a cold soba or udon if they eat 10 or more plates of sushi, and the cold soba (or udon) was huge and generous, so I was very happy with it.

How busy is Sushi Ianen Nowon Station at the 5 p.m. opening?
To get the opening-run service, I walked into Sushi Ianen Nowon Station at 5 p.m. Most of the seats were already full right at the 5 p.m. opening. By 5:17, people were waiting.

Sushi Ianen prices and sushi selection
Every plate of sushi at Sushi Ianen is the same ₩1,990, no matter what it is.

The variety of sushi was impressive.

Besides the usual flounder, vinegared shrimp, egg, salmon, tuna and fried tofu pouch sushi, there were lots of fusion types too: salmon yukhoe roll, yukhoe (beef tartare), beef sashimi, gamtae (seaweed) sweet shrimp with monkfish liver, scallop roll and bacon shrimp. Picking among them was a real joy.
Pickled ginger, rakkyo (pickled scallions) and wasabi are set out on the table, while pickled radish and pickled chili go around on the rail, so just take some when they pass by. Miso soup comes free.
Pickled radish, pickled chili, rakkyo and ginger set aside. Ready to eat sushi!

The sushi my son and I picked at Sushi Ianen
The first sushi I picked were the salmon yukhoe roll, bacon shrimp sushi and salmon sushi.

The bacon shrimp sushi had a really great savory depth.

They had futomaki too, a thick roll packed with egg, shrimp tempura, tuna, salmon and more.
Salmon yukhoe tataki roll

Aged kimchi tuna sushi, and soy-marinated shrimp sushi.

Raw shrimp sushi is tastier than the vinegared shrimp.

This is cheese egg sushi. The ones on a little stone plate are torched. The cheese on the egg was torched, so it was soft.
Sushi Ianen shrimp tempura: 2 pieces for ₩1,990
A staff member called out "shrimp tempura coming out!" so I grabbed the shrimp tempura off the rail.

The shrimp tempura is bigger than what you get at a fried-food shop, and it's 2 pieces for ₩1,990, a much better price than the fried-food shop. Total bargain, haha

Tuna akami (back cut). The tuna back slices were long, so I was satisfied, haha

Egg shrimp sushi. Traditional sushi is good, but fusion sushi like this is the tasty stuff.

The yukhoe sushi was quite big, so just two or so would fill you up.

Sea bream masukawa. The sea bream slices were quite long too.

How do you get free cold soba at Sushi Ianen's opening run?
Sushi Ianen's opening-run service works like this: guests who enter between 5:00 and 5:30 p.m. and order 10 plates of sushi get one cold soba or udon per table. After eating 10 plates, I asked for the cold soba from the opening-run service.

Since the free cold soba is just one portion, I figured only one of us would eat it, but it came in a big bowl with plenty of noodles, and they even brought a personal bowl for sharing.

It filled the personal bowl to the brim and made two bowls, so the portion was really big. Sushi Ianen's opening-run service is totally great!!!

More sushi after the cold soba: our 25-plate total
Octopus wasabi gunkan (battleship roll)

Beef steak sushi, and freshwater eel sushi. It's summer, so you have to eat eel, haha

Gamtae sweet shrimp with monkfish liver sushi, and scallop roll.
After pineapple for dessert, I counted the plates and it was 25. Among the sushi at Sushi Ianen, the Nowon Station conveyor sushi place, the fusion sushi was quite good.

What takeout does Sushi Ianen Nowon Station offer?
Among Sushi Ianen's takeout menu, the assorted sushi sets are a really good price. I especially liked the takeout price of the Ian Family sushi set, so next time getting takeout seemed fine.
