Spicy sauce in a paper cup at Hyeonseonine, a Yongsan tteokbokki spot
Hyeonseonine Yongsan Main Branch is a retro-style tteokbokki (spicy rice cake) restaurant on Yongridan-gil, a 5-minute walk from Sinyongsan and Yongsan stations in Seoul. Staff describe the medium spice as slightly hotter than Shin Ramyun, so the order went to the basic flavor and the spicy sauce arrived separately in a paper cup, served with the Hyeonseoni set of skewered fish cake, water rice cake, mixed fritters and sundae (blood sausage). Arriving just off peak hours at Hyeonseonine means no wait and the full pojangmacha (street food tent) mood.
