I took a weekend trip to Suncheon with my partner, and we went to Namdareun, a well-known spot in Jorye-dong, for lunch!

A lunch spot close to the Suncheon Drama Set
This branch is close to the Suncheon Drama Set, so it's a good stop before or after sightseeing~ We went for a meal after visiting the set.

There's a dedicated lot at the restaurant too, so it looked convenient if you come by car.

The menu is posted by the entrance, so you can check it beforehand. Takeout and delivery are available too!
Inside Namdareun: interior and seating
The inside was spacious and clean ·ᴗ· Most tables seat four, and there are quite a lot of them :)
When I visited, there were big groups and people eating alone, so it looks fine for family meals, group meals, and solo dining alike. Baby chairs are available too, so it's good to come with a baby.

There were signs hanging near the entrance, so a lot of celebrities have vouched for this place, haha.

Unlimited sujebi at the self-serve bar, and other amenities
There's a self-serve bar on one side, so you can grab more if you need it. It has cheongyang chili peppers, onion, ssamjang (seasoned soybean paste), bean sprouts, kkakdugi (radish kimchi), sujebi (hand-pulled dough flakes) and kimchi! Unlimited sujebi, no less! Take note, hot pot eaters~
Aprons are provided, and there are chargers so you can charge your phone. The restroom is inside, which is convenient. They also accept Suncheon Love gift certificates.

I didn't have a soup dish this time, but they use a patented broth, so I'm curious how it tastes, haha.
Namdareun menu: hot pots, soups, braised dishes and sides
The menu runs from hangover soup and ramen that are good for one person to hot pots and braised dishes for sharing.

- Hot pots: Namdareun bone hot pot, brisket kimchi bone hot pot, army stew (budae-jjigae), Hwallyeok Bobo bone hot pot
- Soups: namja-tang, army stew hangover soup, kimchi hangover soup, ramen, and more

- Add-ons: rice cakes, noodles, potatoes, meat, and more
- Sides: pork cutlet, steamed egg, dumplings, bulgogi, noodles, and more

Drinks include soju, beer, makgeolli (rice wine) and soft drinks.

What two of us ordered: medium Namdareun braised pork bones and rice
We ordered the medium Namdareun braised pork bones and steamed rice. I went back and forth with the hot pot, but we like the braised version more, so we went with Namdareun braised pork bones!
Each table also has a bone bucket.

After we ordered, the side dishes were set out: seasoned bean sprouts, chili peppers, kimchi, kkakdugi and a sauce, all good to eat alongside.

The rice we ordered to go with the braised bones came out too.

Free steamed egg with braised dishes
At Namdareun, a steamed egg comes free when you order a braised dish~ It was soft and nutty, great to nibble on in between! Thumbs up for the freebie 👍

How were the taste and portion of the braised pork bones?
The braised pork bones came piled on a huge plate, and the portion was really generous, haha. Along with the bones there was glass noodles, green onion, mushrooms, bok choy, potatoes and more.
The bones were really big, with plenty of meat on them. Maybe because it's cooked a long time, the meat was tender 👏

Maybe because herbal ingredients go into it, the seasoning wasn't too harsh, which I liked. The rich sauce flavor is still there and it's savory, so I kept eating~ It's tasty just putting the meat on rice, and also lightly mixed in~

Flat glass noodles, potatoes and mushrooms
The glass noodles were flat ones, and the rich seasoning had soaked in well, so I enjoyed them ·ᴗ· Even without adding more, there were quite a lot of noodles~

The potatoes and mushrooms had the seasoning flavor too, and I liked that the vegetables were evenly mixed in. Overall the seasoning was good and the meat was tender, so I was satisfied ·ᴗ· The portion was hearty, and we left well fed.
