This time I went on a burger date with my son, who loves hamburgers. We went to Bored & Hungry Mapo! The colorful building caught my eye right away, and the place turned out to nail my son's burger taste perfectly.

The best burger I've ever had!

That's what my son said after eating. His review was already done before I could even finish explaining anything, haha. If you're looking for a burger course for a date near Sinchon, let me walk you through the vibe, the menu, and everything to know before you visit.

A burger spot where the building itself catches your eye

The first thing I noticed when I arrived at Bored & Hungry Mapo was the huge character covering the building's wall. Blue, yellow and orange blended together with a big BORED & HUNGRY sign — quite different from the usual burger joint vibe.

With the trees out front and the colorful building framed together, the combination felt fresh too. We came for burgers but ended up taking photos right at the entrance.

Even the glass entrance door had burger illustrations and characters on it, so you could feel the vibe of the place before even opening the door. Whenever I see a place with this much personality, I get curious about how the inside is decorated too, haha.

Yellow chairs and checkered floors — what's the interior like?

Walking into Bored & Hungry Mapo, you're greeted by yellow chairs and a black-and-white checkered floor that continues throughout. With yellow accents on white tables, the playful feel from the exterior carried naturally into the interior.

You could see the trees outside through the window seats, and the counter had a yellow logo and various props on display. From wall art to T-shirts and bags, there was fun in just looking around the space. Several celebrity photos caught my eye too — they added to the memorable, distinctive vibe of the place.

If you're looking for a burger date spot near Sinchon and care about the atmosphere as much as the food, this offbeat interior is worth checking out.

Cheeseburger and The Mega Bun Double — how were the patties?

My son and I picked two menu items: the cheeseburger and The Mega Bun Double. What impressed us most in both was the deep flavor of the thick patties.

Ordered cheeseburger and The Mega Bun Double

The meat flavor came through clearly, like the patty was really the center of the whole burger's taste. Up close, you could see cheese melted between the patties, with the meat's edges peeking out past the bun. I took a cross-section shot too, and you could clearly see all the layered ingredients inside.

Thick patties — wouldn't they be greasy?

You'd think a thick patty like this would get greasy as you eat. But to my taste, it was more savory than oily. The meat flavor was rich but never greasy, which I especially liked.

You could tell the other ingredients were fresh too. It wasn't just memorable for being big and thick — the way the patty's flavor blended with the other ingredients was what really made this burger stand out.

My burger-loving son really seemed to love this one. When he said it was that good, it made his mom happy too. Of course everyone's taste is different, but that one line from my son is what made this meal so memorable for us^^

Fries and drinks complete the burger spread

At Bored & Hungry Mapo, we paired our two burgers with fries, and also ordered a vanilla shake and soda.

Once the burgers and fries were laid out together on the tray, it finally felt like a proper spread. Even the burger wrapping and fries bag had characters printed on them, which made it fun to look at.

We ordered a vanilla shake too, but for me, soda is still the best pairing with a burger. A savory bite of burger, then a sip of soda! It's a combo I just can't give up, haha.

What's at the self-serve bar?

On one side of Bored & Hungry Mapo, the self-serve bar has forks, knives, plates and hot sauce all organized in one spot. It was easy to find whatever you needed.

Depending on whether you want to eat the burger by hand or cut it to share, you can grab the right utensils there. Knowing this ahead of time is handy if you're visiting with a kid too.

A burger, then a walk along the Gyeongui Line Forest

Right in front of Bored & Hungry Mapo is the Gyeongui Line Forest (경의선숲길). With its tree-lined path and traces of the old railway still visible, it was a great spot to take photos with my son too.

Rather than just eating and leaving right away, pairing the meal with a stroll along the path out front made the time with my son feel a bit more relaxed. A burger date course near Daeheung Station doesn't have to be just for couples. A date like ours — eating something good with your son and exploring the area — is great too, haha.

An unusual building, a distinctive interior, and a burger with a savory patty I won't forget — this visit to Bored & Hungry Mapo turned into a delicious outing with my son. If you're looking for a burger spot near Daeheung Station or the Gyeongui Line Forest, hope our review helps^^
