Hongdae pasta restaurant: butter-yellow exterior and duck theme, Omil

I found it!!!!!! A Hongdae pasta place with great vibes and so much cuteness!!! I really found it, T_T.. It's cute.. and it nails the taste and the mood too: Omil Hongdae. It's perfect for a date, and honestly fine for a blind date too..!! Here's my honest review 🤤

Where is Omil Hongdae and what is the atmosphere like?

Omil Hongdae is a pasta spot on the 2nd floor on Yanghwa-ro, really close to Hongik Univ. Station. It's easy to reach, so I recommend public transport (●'◡'●)

Omil Hongdae is yellow, yellow and super cute from the outside 😎 It's a butter-yellow color, so as someone who loves yellow, I found it adorable, haha. Already giving off Hongdae date spot vibes, right?

Even the way up to the 2nd floor is full of Omil charm!!!!!!!

Inside, Omil Hongdae is wider than I expected, stretching far back, and it's cute and tidy! I was there on a date too, but there were so many other couples, families and people with kids.

Super clean inside, right! You ring the bell on the table and they come to take your order, hahahaha. Such European royal court vibes, what is this,,,,

What's in the Omil Hongdae set for two?

The Omil Hongdae menu is mostly Western food, so it felt just right for a Hongdae date. We went straight for the set for two, which is great value!

• Rubber duck omurice (omelet rice) x1
• Spicy roe pasta x1
• Omil soba maki (rice roll) x1
• Coke Zero x2

Honestly I was worried, because my fiancé was sick and had no appetite, and what if he found it bland.. (because I was the one who dragged him to this place)

Oh, and there's a review event too. The basic setup is neat and tidy! The self bar has water and everything basic. There are ducks at the self bar too, hahahahaha. They come in different sizes, so cuuute...T_T

Rubber duck omurice: cute, but is it tasty too?

The first dish out from the Omil Hongdae set was the signature rubber duck omurice.

They just give you a cute duck doll as a freebie! It comes together with the rubber duck omurice bowl, so cuuute T_T

The signature quail egg cuties T_T Look closely and the eyes are all slightly different, so each has its own expression, haha

I usually think you have to give up some taste for cuteness..? But Omil's rubber duck omurice is really good!!!! Even my appetite-less fiancé said "Oh? This is really good?" and slurped it down, haha. The egg on top is the swirly omurice kind, so it was super fluffy and delicious.

The sauce is well seasoned and savory, and went nicely with the rice and the quail egg ducks!

The fried rice inside has quite a lot of vegetables and is seasoned just right, so it went well with the sauce and egg. The rubber duck omurice nails cuteness, looks and taste, and it's the signature, so do order it. If you're looking for a Hongdae date spot, it's a look your girlfriend can't possibly dislike..(●'◡'●)

How spicy is Omil's spicy roe pasta?

The spicy roe pasta at Omil Hongdae is an oil pasta, not a cream one. (I actually ordered it thinking it was cream, haha;;) I was a bit thrown because it's oil....... but this is really good, haha. It's spicy, so it's not greasy at all;;

There's a ton of pollock roe in it, so the seasoning is just right, and the savory, salty pull of the roe is crazy, haha. But it's quite spicy, so I don't recommend it for spice-wimps 😭😭 I'm one, and for me it was spicy enough to make my mouth burn!

What is Omil soba maki?

Omil soba maki is a big roll, futomaki-sized, and I personally strongly recommend it! It's so cute, is this their concept..? Why so cute T_T;; What's with that face.. how do I even eat that.. (says me, but I ate it just fine). I took a photo with the rubber duck too.

The egg inside tastes exactly like the egg on top of egg sushi. If you look closely there's also burdock root, cucumber and fried tofu, and the sauce and flavors all blend together well..

Even my already-full fiancé was so pleased he kept picking out just the egg! Soba maki approved, highly recommended...👍👍

Omil, a Hongdae pasta restaurant, nails cuteness, mood and taste, and your girlfriend will love it. It's a great Hongdae date course, and since lots of families come too, it looks good for a family meal out as well (●'◡'●)
