Bukchon wood-fired pizza: hot pepperoni-taco half-and-half, Low Five
In short
Low Five Anguk is a wood-fired pizza and pasta restaurant on Bukchon-ro in Jongno, Seoul, near Anguk Station and Bukchon Hanok Village. On a Bukchon outing, the writer ordered a half-and-half pizza (hot pepperoni and taco, ₩26,000), truffle cream pasta (₩19,000) and a classic Caesar salad (₩12,000), and especially liked the wood-fired dough, crisp outside and chewy inside, and the subtle truffle aroma. I recently took a trip around Bukchon and stopped at Low Five Anguk, a pizza place famous in Anguk for its great atmosphere. It's close to Bukchon Hanok Village (traditional Korean house district), so lots of couples come here on dates, and the food was good too, so I was really happy with the visit.

Is Low Five Anguk's interior good for a date?
Low Five Anguk has a classy feel, with European-style decor and warm wood tones, so it suits a Bukchon date well. The storefront has a lovely look that fits the Bukchon vibe, and the inside was bigger than I expected.
It's great for couples, and there was plenty of seating for families or groups of friends too. The kitchen is semi-open, so you can watch the food being made, and everything was kept nice and clean, which I liked.

There's a half-and-half pizza that lets you enjoy two flavors in one, which seemed especially great when you want to try several things.

Here are the three things we ordered.
- Half-and-half pizza (hot pepperoni + taco pizza)
- Truffle cream pasta
- Classic Caesar salad

Free jalapeños and a self-serve bar with Parmesan and hot sauce

At Low Five Anguk, jalapeños come as a default, and at the self-bar you can grab Parmesan cheese and hot sauce to enjoy however you like.

Half-and-half pizza: hot pepperoni and taco
We chose hot pepperoni and taco pizza for the half-and-half, and the two flavors had such different charms that I'm glad we went half and half.

How does the hot pepperoni pizza taste?
The hot pepperoni pizza had a classic and delicious combo of salty pepperoni and cheese, and the dough was chewy and nutty all the way to the edge, so I ate the crust too without leaving any.

How does the taco pizza taste?
The taco pizza is topped with shrimp and lots of other toppings, so it tasted different from the usual. The spicy chipotle base and generous toppings kept me reaching for more, and it was even better with a little dab of the self-bar hot sauce.

The wood-fired pizza dough
Above all, the wood-fired dough was really good, crisp outside and chewy inside, and I could see why Low Five Anguk is famous as an Anguk wood-fired pizza place.

Is the truffle cream pasta too rich?
The truffle cream pasta (₩19,000) at Low Five Anguk had a rich cream sauce with a faint truffle aroma rising from it, and I loved it.

It was thick but not heavy, so I kept going back for more, and the noodles were cooked just right, which I was happy about.

There's plenty of truffle sauce too, haha!
Classic Caesar salad with a squeeze of lemon, alongside the pizza
The classic Caesar salad (₩12,000) had fresh vegetables and a nutty dressing that went together nicely, perfect to eat alongside the pizza. It felt like it balanced out the whole meal, so I was glad we ordered it too.

It's even better if you squeeze the lemon that comes with it.

Low Five Anguk: final verdict
Atmosphere, food and service were all satisfying at Low Five Anguk. I'd recommend it to anyone looking for a Bukchon date restaurant or a nice Western-style place near Anguk Station. The half-and-half menu, which lets you try different pizzas, was especially good, and the pasta and salad combo was great too, so it's an Anguk spot I'd happily visit again.
