Chance stop at a Mangwon bakery, crisp baguette: Boulangerie Copain
In short
Boulangerie Copain (블랑제리코팡) is a bakery on Huiujeong-ro in Mangwon, Mapo, Seoul, featured in the baguette and croissant master episode of SBS's Master of Living. On a chance visit, the writer picked a basil sandwich, a mini brioche, milk salt bread and a baguette, and liked the crisp-outside, soft-inside baguette and the tender brioche best. For a Mangwon bakery crawl, Boulangerie Copain is a local bakery where the basic breads are the ones to try first.

Boulangerie Copain (블랑제리코팡) is a Mangwon bakery worth adding to your bakery crawl, and it's the real deal: it was on SBS's Master of Living in the baguette/croissant master episode. It's already a famous local favorite in Mangwon, haha. If you're looking for a Mangwon bakery with healthy ingredients and great bread, this is the one I'd recommend. I'll share the details one by one below! :)
How far is Boulangerie Copain from Mangwon Station?
Boulangerie Copain is about 15–20 minutes from Mangwon Station. It's on the main road, so it's easy to find, haha.

This is the bakery of the baguette/croissant master from SBS's Master of Living. I just happened to walk into a famous bread spot by chance!! Lucky girl, right~?

Boulangerie Copain's time sale and parking
I heard Boulangerie Copain runs a time sale with up to 30% off from 7pm every day~ Up to 30% off is a total bargain. I love that you can get delicious bread for less. But you know bread tastes best in the morning, fresh out of the oven, right?
For parking, use a nearby public parking lot.
What breads does Boulangerie Copain have?

Just as you'd expect from a top Mangwon bakery, Boulangerie Copain has a really wide range of breads. Everything looked so good that I struggled to decide what to eat. I'll show you in more detail below!

Choco banana croissant and fig cream cheese baguette
The choco banana croissant and the fig cream cheese baguette look absolutely out of this world~ The choco banana croissant especially looked so delicious.

Basil sandwich and Colby Jack sandwich
Boulangerie Copain also sells a hearty basil sandwich that works as a full meal. As a basil lover, I bought one~
The Colby Jack sandwich isn't something you often see elsewhere~ I'm going to try it next time.

Croissants, pain suisse and other pastries
There's a big variety: corn cheese croissant, garlic cheese ball, raspberry almond croissant, and pain suisse 👍🏻

The sausage jalapeño danish and the tomato olive danish, those two danishes looked so good. I think either would make a satisfying meal.

They also sell croissants with crisp, flaky layers, like the blueberry croissant and the injeolmi (roasted rice-cake powder) croissant. They're filled with cream, so I bet those are great too.

They sell a Valrhona choco baguette too. It's super hot right now, so I'll definitely get it next time.
Boulangerie Copain drinks menu

This is the drinks menu at Boulangerie Copain. They sell coffee, tea, ade and more. Bread and coffee is a love match, you know?
The 4 breads I picked at Boulangerie Copain

Here's what I bought at Boulangerie Copain~
- Basil sandwich
- Mini brioche
- Milk salt bread
- Baguette
What does the basil sandwich taste like?

As you'd expect from a baguette master, the basil sandwich uses a baguette that's crisp outside and chewy, stuffed with basil pesto + ham + cheese for a really rich flavor. Try it once and you'll fall for its charm.
Mini brioche
The mini brioche is a French-style mini loaf of bread, rich and soft with plenty of butter and eggs.

The inside is moist and so soft it melts in your mouth. It's especially good with milk.
Milk salt bread
The milk salt bread is a friend of salt bread. Milk cream and salt maximize the sweet-and-salty flavor. It's soft, full of butter flavor and mild, so it's totally my taste!

Boulangerie Copain's plain baguette
The baguette uses a poolish (pre-fermented dough starter), giving a classic plain baguette that's crisp outside, moist inside and tastes of nurungji (toasted rice crust). They sliced it for me so it was easy to eat~
Crisp outside and chewy inside, it got nuttier and milder the more I chewed! It was so good I kept reaching for more. It's tasty on its own, but even better with cream cheese and whipped cream, haha.
Is Boulangerie Copain worth a stop on a Mangwon bakery crawl?
I highly recommend Boulangerie Copain as a Mangwon bakery for your bakery crawl. The bread was so good and the staff were friendly, which made it even better.
It's a must-visit on a Mangwon bakery crawl, the bakery from SBS's Master of Living~ The basics like baguette, brioche, croissant and salt bread are all delicious at this local favorite. If you're in Mangwon, definitely go~^^
