Dog-friendly bakery café in Yangju: AI bread scanner at Doasis

In short

Doasis is a large, botanical-garden-style bakery café near Deokjeong Station in Yangju, Gyeonggi, built inside a renovated public bathhouse. On a weekday visit around 6:30 PM, the writer picked 7 breads for a meal and dessert, paid with an AI scanner, then warmed them in the oven at the self-service packing station. With a wide bread selection even in the evening and dogs welcome, Doasis is too good to treat as just a takeaway stop.

Doasis, the huge Yangju café you can spot from the Deokjeong Station train

Doasis is a huge café in Yangju, right next to the No Brand store by Deokjeong Station. I'd wanted to visit for a while, and I finally made it! Whenever I take the train home from Dongducheon and pass Deokjeong Station, I can see Doasis from inside the train, and I always wondered just how big it is, haha.

I arrived a little after 6:30 PM and worried there wouldn't be much bread left, but for such a big café the selection was still wide. The inside is seriously huge and feels just like a botanical garden, so this Deokjeong Station café is one I want to revisit!

Brunch orders are possible until 6 PM, so you can get pasta or pizza too! Lots of reviews say it's good~ I got there after 6:30, so this time I went with bread.

How does Doasis work with dogs?

At Doasis you get around by elevator, and you order on 2F! If you've brought your dog, take the pup up to 4F first, then come down to 2F to order!

They even have plant news! There's a little newsletter, so after walking in I kept poking around going, "Is this a sago palm?" haha.

How to order at Doasis, and the 7 evening breads I picked

You can order drinks and brunch at a kiosk, or go to the counter and order in person!

You put the breads you want on a tray, and I picked about 7 kinds, a mix of meal breads and dessert breads! The one with cheese is really good, and the one with rice cake (tteok) inside is good too!

An AI scanner rings up the bread automatically

An AI scanner scans the bread at Doasis automatically! I saw one once when I went to Japan, and here it is again! Used well, AI is really useful, haha.

You pick up drinks at the pickup counter next to it! Almost food-court level, right?

Why is Doasis so big? A café renovated from a bathhouse

Doasis is on a scale that puts most big cafés to shame.. I've been to plenty of large cafés while traveling around Korea, in Seoul, Gyeonggi, Busan and the Chungcheong region, and this was the biggest ever!

Wide interior space on Doasis 2F

No wonder it's so big: Doasis is a renovated building that used to be a public bathhouse. Think how big a public bathhouse is!! It could hold that many people and still have room to spare, right?

So even a single floor is rea~~lly big. At first we even wondered, was this a wedding hall? Or a church building? It's that enormous, hahaha.

Lots of celebrities have visited too, so there are plenty of autographs! But it's honestly a café worth coming to. Such a waste to just take your order and go T_T

I haven't even gone upstairs yet, hahahahaha. I'm still on 2F. The scale is crazy, right? Is this really a café..? Isn't it a botanical garden? It's that wide, haha.

300 palm trees and outlet seats, good for working on a laptop too

Doasis has plenty of outlet seats, so I think it's good for studying or working on a laptop too! They say about 300 real palm trees grown in and brought from Jeju are placed all around the café, so even indoors it feels like a lush green outdoor garden!

I took the elevator up to 3F! Like at the entrance, you can use the elevator to move between floors, which is handy if you've brought a stroller or are carrying a tray of bakery items and drinks~

It suits the name Doasis, meaning an oasis in the city, and there's room between the plants and the seats, so it's fun to wander around slowly!

When I went up to 4F there was a Border Collie!! Its tail wagged hello, but it was bravely guarding its zone, so I waved and headed back down to 2F, haha.

Doasis seating types and the weekday evening mood

As a 2,000-pyeong (about 6,600 m²) café in Yangju, Doasis has a wide range of seating: regular tables, group seats, stair-style seating, and floor seating where you take your shoes off. I agonized a lot over where to sit and ended up at the group seats, haha.

Group seats and varied seating at Doasis

It was a weekday evening and the place is so big that even with other guests there, we never ran into anyone..!!! On weekends and holidays there are lots of families, so if you want a more relaxed visit like mine, avoid peak hours and you'll feel like you've rented the place (?), hahaha.

How is the bread at Doasis? Warmed in the self-packing oven

No matter how pretty a café is, you don't want to go if the desserts or bread are bad, right? I came for the atmosphere too, but I came to eat!!!! So how's the bread at Doasis? Even if this were a takeout-only shop, the bread is good enough that I'd go back!

Bread and a drink picked at Doasis

The perk of eating in at Doasis is the self-packing counter, which has an oven you can use yourself, so you can eat warm bread, haha.

You can pack up leftover bread yourself and take it home, so it's great for each person to pick what they like, share it, and take the rest to go!

Who should go to Doasis?

Doasis has a nursing room, high chairs, and floor seating where you can take your shoes off, for those visiting with kids. With a big private parking lot, varied seating and a nursing room, it's a good place for dates, family outings, and group get-togethers!

If you're looking for a big café in Yangju where you can enjoy bakery items and drinks in a botanical-garden-like interior, visit Doasis, close to Deokjeong Station!
