Today I'm sharing my honest review of Hansel and Gretel, a popular theme at Cube Escape Hongdae Branch, which I had a really great time with in Hongdae!

Cube Escape Hongdae Branch is on the 4th floor of the Mugwang Building at 15 Yanghwa-ro 16-gil, Mapo-gu, Seoul, and opens at noon on weekdays. It's open until 1:10 a.m. on Fridays and Saturdays, so a late-night escape room in Hongdae is possible too.

What to know before entering Cube Escape Hongdae Branch

Your booking time is your game start time, so I recommend arriving 10 minutes early! Before you start, a staff member shows you how to open the locks and gives you a tablet (?) for taking notes!

You have to leave your phone in a locker. You can only go in after storing all your belongings!

Slippers are provided too. They're not required, but you can change into them if you like! The theme I played didn't need much big movement, so slippers were fine. And you can charge your phone while you play!

I'd also recommend using the restroom before the game starts! There's one inside, which was convenient.

How difficult is the Hansel and Gretel theme?

The Hansel and Gretel theme at Cube Escape Hongdae Branch has almost no scare factor, and the difficulty was such that even beginners can escape if they use hints sensibly! There were some neat gadgets along the way and a fair number of properly tough puzzles, so it was fun to solve it step by step! haha

The room is quite large and the lighting is just right, so it was perfect for getting immersed in the theme.

When you finish and come out, Cube Escape Hongdae Branch has a photo zone too. It was nice to make fun memories with friends.

I used 3 or more hints to escape, so I got an oatmeal snack...! Next time I want to try escaping without any hints haha
