Huge café in Yangju: garlic steak pizza and burrata salad at Doasis

There are so many places calling themselves "large cafés" these days that being big barely impresses me anymore. But walking into Doasis in Yangju, my first words were simply, "Wow, this one is big." Haha. The scale is like a supermarket parking lot;;

Is parking easy at Doasis in Yangju?

Doasis has a supermarket-sized parking lot, so driving there is almost no burden. Even by the writer's rough estimate it fits 30+ cars easily, so you won't be circling around looking for a spot.

Am I in the right place? Did this turn into an E-Mart?? At first I thought I'd entered the wrong address in the navigation;; haha. The building itself is overwhelming, and the parking lot felt almost like arriving at E-Mart.

What are the 2nd-floor seating and atmosphere like?

On Doasis's 2nd floor, each table is bigger than an ordinary dining table, and the spacing is wide. Unless you sit right up against the next table, you can barely hear the neighboring group's conversation.

The tables are about this class. You could play curling on top of one, or hold a wedding reception at it...

How many kinds of bread does the Doasis bakery have?

Doasis is a large Yangju bakery café that bakes its own bread as a boulangerie. There are lots of kinds, from tasting samples to salt bread, mont blanc, brioche, baguette, scones and pain de campagne.

Starting with the breads you can sample~;;

The bakery range is quite varied too: salt bread, mont blanc, brioche, baguette, scones, pain de campagne and more. It's the perfect setup for coming in just for coffee and leaving with a bag of bread.

Add the sold-out breads on top of these and the shelves would run out of room~

A Jeju arboretum-style interior at Doasis

Doasis's interior is packed with palm trees, all kinds of foliage plants and sculptures, so it feels as if a whole botanical garden like Yeomiji in Jeju had been moved to Yangju. More than the size, it was this interior that surprised the writer.

Big cafés usually talk about their "mountain view," "river view" or "sunset view," but here you don't need any of that. The interior itself is the view. Just sitting there automatically cleanses your eyes. Haha.

Doasis 3rd floor and the small wedding space

Doasis has a staircase leading from the 2nd floor to the 3rd, and the 3rd floor is also used as a small wedding space. The staircase even gives off a vibe that the heroine of Titanic should come down it in a dress.

I kept thinking, "You could actually hold a wedding here," and apparently they really do run small weddings. Counting the 3rd floor, the scale is truly substantial. Reviews also describe the 3rd floor as being used for small weddings. I heard Doasis Party & Small Wedding is actually due to open in September~;

The 2nd floor alone was big enough, and then there's a 3rd floor on top of that~; When I visited, the 2nd floor was plenty, so the 3rd wasn't in operation, but on weekends or busy days it would probably feel different with the 3rd floor open too.

Doasis 4th-floor dog playground

On Doasis's 4th floor there is a dog playground you use by reservation. Going up, it felt less like a "dog playground" and more like a small futsal pitch. Haha. If you bring a dog, this space seems quite appealing.

How does the garlic steak pizza at Doasis taste?

This day at Doasis, I ordered the garlic steak pizza, the burrata cheese salad and an Americano.

Just as the name suggests, the garlic steak pizza at Doasis is loaded with toppings: steak, mushrooms, olives, bell peppers, corn and tomatoes, plus plenty of cheese, so even a single slice feels hefty.

The quality was good enough that it didn't disappoint even next to specialist pizza brands like Domino's. It's the style with cheese all the way to the edge, so there's no leaving the end bits. The crust was really soft and I ate it all~ Loads of cheese inside the crust~

Burrata cheese salad at Doasis: strawberry flavor in the cherry tomatoes?

The burrata cheese salad at Doasis has a big burrata in the middle, with cherry tomatoes, assorted greens and balsamic on top. One bite of pizza, one bite of salad resets your palate, and I was glad we ordered the two together.

And they're clearly [cherry tomatoes], yet they had such a strong strawberry taste that I was startled~ I was curious about the recipe, but it seems to be a secret of the house;; Anyway, they were really tasty, burst with a pop and had a strong strawberry flavor: [cherry tomatoes in a burrata cheese salad].

Self-serve packing station and serving carts: a café like a supermarket

Doasis has a separate self-serve packing station and tableware, and because the café is so big there are even self-serve carts for carrying your food. A self-packing station and self-serve carts.... It really is like a supermarket..~

Naturally, as a Yangju bakery café, they bake their own bread in many varieties. And pushing a cart around a café was quite a novelty. Haha.

Is Doasis worth recommending as a Yangju brunch café?

If you want parking, roomy seating, food and atmosphere all in one go in Yangju, Doasis is a pretty good choice. It isn't only big: wandering around the interior was definitely fun, which made it a Yangju large café worth visiting.

• 🚗 The parking lot is on par with a big supermarket's, so driving there was almost no burden.
• 🌴 With plants and sculptures that feel like a Jeju arboretum moved indoors, the interior itself was the view, no scenery outside needed.
• 🍕 The garlic steak pizza had generous toppings and was as satisfying as a specialist pizzeria.
• 🌿 With the burrata cheese salad and a wide range of in-house baked goods, there were plenty of brunch choices.
• 🐶 The huge café space on the 2nd and 3rd floors, the small wedding space and the 4th-floor dog playground made the scale overwhelming.
