Gangdong Korean restaurant for samgyetang and jeon: Boseung Hoegwan
In short
Boseung Hoegwan Cheonho Station Branch is a Korean restaurant 88 m from Exit 3 of Cheonho Station in Gangdong, Seoul. I ordered samgyetang and a set of mung bean and seafood scallion pancakes; the tender chicken and contrasting pancakes were satisfying. The spacious seating included tables suitable for solo diners.

Near Cheonho Station, I had samgyetang (ginseng chicken soup) and nokdujeon (mung bean pancake) with haemul pajeon (seafood scallion pancake) at Boseung Hoegwan Cheonho Station Branch (보승회관 천호역점). It specializes in gukbap (rice soup), but I liked that it also had samgyetang and a set that let me try two kinds of jeon (Korean savory pancakes).

How close is it to Cheonho Station, and when is it open?
The address is Unit 1, 1st floor, 654 Olympic-ro, Gangdong-gu, Seoul, South Korea. It is 88 m from Exit 3 of Cheonho Station and right next to Hyundai Department Store, so it was easy to find. According to the original post, it is open 24 hours daily, making it a place to eat early in the morning or late at night.

What else is on the menu besides samgyetang?
There was a wide range of soup dishes, including sundae gukbap, suyuk gukbap, hangjeong suyuk gukbap, naejang gukbap, osori gukbap, ppyeo haejangguk, and jiok gukbap. There were also hot pots, suyuk (boiled pork), naengmyeon, and drinking-food sets.

There was also a menu board at the entrance, which made it easy to check the options before going in.

What is the seating like for a solo meal?
The restaurant was spacious and comfortable. Most seating consisted of tables for two or four people.

I also saw seating suitable for eating alone. It felt like a good place to stop by for a warm meal on your own at lunch or dinner.

How much was the samgyetang, and how did it taste?
Kkakdugi (cubed radish kimchi) and geotjeori (freshly seasoned kimchi) were served as side dishes. The kkakdugi was good, but I especially kept reaching for the geotjeori because it was not overly salty, was well seasoned, and had a savory depth.

The samgyetang was ₩14,000. I ordered it because I wanted a nourishing meal, and the chicken, simmered thoroughly, was tender.

The broth was rich and the chicken meat was tender. It included ginseng, jujubes, and chestnuts, and I finished every drop of the bowl.

What comes with the nokdujeon and haemul pajeon set?
The set of nokdujeon and haemul pajeon was ₩15,000. I liked being able to try two pancakes with different flavors at once.

The nokdujeon was mild, with the deep flavor of mung beans. The haemul pajeon had seafood flavor and nuttiness, so I was satisfied alternating between the two pancakes.
