Bupyeong Market Station jokbal spot: Jangmo Jokbal's front-leg half-and-half jokbal and tray noodles
There's a famous spot in Bupyeong that comes to mind whenever I crave juicy, tender jokbal. Jangmo Jokbal Bupyeong Market Station Branch is already well known among locals as a jokbal spot worth lining up for, so I visited in person and took home some delicious jokbal and makguksu (buckwheat noodles). Today I'll share my honest review of the generous half-and-half front-leg jokbal and large tray noodles I ordered at the main branch.

What we ordered: half-and-half front-leg jokbal and large tray noodles
For this visit, I went generous with a popular signature combo from Jangmo Jokbal.
- Half-and-half jokbal (front leg / original + spicy)
- Tray noodles, jaengban guksu (large)
Carrying the heavy takeout bag home, the delicious smell drifting up the whole way had me buzzing with anticipation as I set the table.

Half-and-half front-leg jokbal: herbal original and smoky spicy
When it comes to jokbal, the front leg is truly the way to go — never dry. The original jokbal had chewy, springy skin while the meat was so soft and moist it practically melted in my mouth. There was no gamey smell at all, just a subtle, savory herbal medicine flavor woven through — delicious even eaten plain.

The spicy jokbal had a fiery, delicious sauce soaked right into the meat, and it was seriously addictive. With a hint of smoky fire flavor and just the right heat, alternating bites with the original meant there was never a dull, greasy moment — a perfect balance!

Large jaengban guksu: sweet, tangy and spicy tray noodles
Sweet and tangy tray noodles (jaengban guksu) are the essential sidekick to jokbal. True to the 'large' size, the portion was generous and piled high with fresh vegetables. Mixing it all up with the sauce and taking a big bite, the noodles were bouncy and chewy, and the sweet-tangy-spicy sauce paired perfectly with the savory richness of the jokbal.

Wrapping a piece of the original jokbal together with a twirl of tray noodles is truly heavenly.
