Signature dishes at Gin Jaryoko Ansan Gojan Branch

Life has been so busy lately that I have really come to appreciate the importance of sitting down to a proper, filling meal. Not long ago, I was craving delicious Japanese food, so I made plans in Gojan-dong and visited a spot I absolutely had to share—it was satisfying not just for the food, but for the portions and atmosphere too. Today’s place is Gin Jaryoko Ansan Gojan Branch (긴자료코 안산고잔점), well known for its demiglace pork cutlet and udon.

Entrance to Gin Jaryoko Ansan Gojan Branch

A cozy, spotless dining room

As soon as I entered, I was struck by the tidy atmosphere and its distinctly Japanese feel. The menu and banner at the entrance were neatly arranged, making it easy to see what was available before even going inside. Seeing the phrase “one of Seoul’s top three pork cutlet restaurants” made me even more excited before I walked in.

Inside, the seating was arranged around a long counter-style bar table. The overall mood was calm and quiet, so it looked great for dining alone, while also being an ideal space to relax and chat over a meal with a companion. The soft lighting made the whole place feel especially restful.

Kiosk at Gin Jaryoko Ansan Gojan Branch

Ordering was easy through the kiosk near the entrance. At the top of the kiosk was a notice saying that a free upgrade to 1.5 portions was available, and I could already feel the owner’s generosity.

Self-service bar beside the kiosk

There was also a self-service bar beside the kiosk, where you could neatly take as much clear soup, pickled radish, and kimchi as you needed. I also liked how clean the area around the bar was kept.

A hearty spread that impresses at first sight

We ordered the signature fresh-cream demiglace pork cutlet set (₩15,000), pollock roe cream udon (₩10,000), and crispy karaage (₩4,000) on the side. The food came out shortly afterward, and the enormous plates and generous portions made our jaws drop! Everything arrived neatly arranged in oversized bowls, and the presentation was really something.

A smooth, nutty demiglace sauce was generously poured over the thick pork cutlet. Since it was a set, it was also plated generously with crispy fried items, salad, and rice.

With the first bite, I could immediately taste the crisp exterior and moist pork inside. In particular, the demiglace sauce was neither overly sweet nor salty; it was rich yet smooth, so I enjoyed every last piece without getting tired of it. The sauce and rice went wonderfully together too, making it hard to put down my spoon.

A bowl of pollock roe cream udon

The pollock roe cream udon, served in a huge bowl, immediately caught my eye. I mixed the beautifully placed poached egg, pollock roe, and seaweed flakes into the rich cream sauce. The noodles were so springy and chewy that they had a wonderful bite. The savory, lightly salty pollock roe cream sauce had soaked deeply into the noodles, and every bite drew an exclamation. It was smooth and full-bodied without feeling heavy.

Chicken karaage

The karaage we ordered as a side arrived freshly fried, hot, and exceptionally crisp. Dipping it in the nutty mayo sauce served alongside made the flavor even richer. It was full of juices inside, and I thought even the side dish was perfect.

Sign describing one of Seoul’s top three pork cutlet restaurants

The phrase “a place that started in a small 7.5-pyeong basement shop in Hongdae and became one of Seoul’s top three pork cutlet restaurants” stands out right from the entrance. It speaks to the restaurant’s confidence in its pork cutlets and its proven flavor.

Drama sponsorship poster at the restaurant entrance

As a brand that sponsored the hit drama "Flex x Cop," the poster at the entrance was a nice sight to see. Its recognition in well-known media also gives it the reassuring feel of a franchise you can trust for a meal.

Professional cooking certificates and country-of-origin board

Professional cooking certificates and a country-of-origin board were clearly displayed on the wall, so I could dine with even more peace of mind. The attention to hygiene and trust really stood out.

The food and portions were excellent, but more than anything, the kind service from the owner and staff made the whole meal even more enjoyable. Their thoughtful attention to every detail felt so warm. The portions were truly generous too, making for an immensely satisfying meal even for an adult appetite. Nothing was missing here—flavor, portions, atmosphere, and kindness were all on point—so I think I will be back again soon.
