Today I want to share a restaurant I visit pretty often. Meat lovers! You know that nostalgic feeling of meat grilled on a cauldron lid, right? Near Gyodae Station, there's a place that really nails that vibe!
Sodangkkae O-gyeopjip Gyodae Main Branch
This is somewhere I've visited quite a few times myself, so I can recommend it honestly and comfortably.

You can already feel it from the outside — this place is perfect for enjoying that cozy cauldron-lid grilling experience. Let me walk you through the atmosphere, the menu I actually ordered and tasted, and a few tips.
Location and reservations at Sodangkkae O-gyeopjip Gyodae Main Branch
Sodangkkae O-gyeopjip Gyodae Main Branch is a 5-minute walk from Gyodae Station Exit 14. The location alone gets full marks for accessibility. There can be a wait on weekend evenings, so I'd recommend booking ahead before you go.

A cauldron lid on every table, and the restaurant's vibe
Walking up the stairs, seeing "we grill it for you" written right by the door is totally my type haha. The interior feels very unpretentious yet tidy. Every table has its own cauldron lid on it, which is such a charming touch lol. Wood materials and metal-toned furniture give it a vintage yet clean atmosphere.
These days there are so many modern Korean BBQ spots that the sentimental touches can feel weaker, you know? But this place feels warm and cozy enough that you could have a genuinely heartwarming time here with family. It's also a great spot to recommend for meetups with friends, the atmosphere is that good. The staff were really kind too, so we got to start the meal in a good mood.

Since we'd booked ahead, they had a reserved seat all set for us when we arrived. Little things like this might seem minor, but they're surprisingly touching!

The meat combo set and side dishes
Sodangkkae O-gyeopjip has fair prices and a solid lineup. There are various set menus at different price points, but I'd recommend the meat combo set, which lets you try pork belly, pork neck and pork jowl all at once. We ordered the combo set too^^

The side dishes come out beautifully arranged. As someone who loves vegetables, this vegetable party is amazing! They even included bracken fern, such a thorough spread.

And look at the meat. Pork belly, pork neck, pork jowl. The color looks so good lol.
Cauldron-lid grilling done by the staff
What makes Sodangkkae O-gyeopjip special is right there at the entrance, written on the door —
We grill it for you
Meat really does taste best when a professional grills it lol. Fire control and timing matter more than you'd think, and since they grill it so well, all you have to do is eat^^

The combination of vegetables and meat looked perfect, and they grilled everything to perfection so nicely — so easy, so easy, so easy!!! haha. The meat quality is so good that words aren't even needed.

Given the nature of cauldron-lid cooking, there's quite a bit of smoke, but each table has a smoke extractor, so I liked that my clothes didn't end up smelling too strongly.

Choose between doenjang jjigae and kimchi jjigae
Just as the meat was getting perfectly cooked, the doenjang jjigae (soybean paste stew) arrived right on cue. The doenjang jjigae here is genuinely delicious, made with generous ingredients. You get to choose one of two stews — doenjang jjigae or kimchi jjigae haha. Pick whichever suits your taste.

The meat browning nicely on the cauldron lid... it's clean-tasting yet bursting with juice, so the chopsticks get busy lol.

Yukhoe included in the set, and scorched rice to finish
Another highlight of the set menu is the yukhoe (beef tartare). It was really fresh and delicious.

And to finish, we ordered nurungji (scorched rice)! This is basically my golden rule — whenever I eat meat, more than any other menu item, I always order scorched rice as a palate cleanser. It neutralizes the greasiness and somehow feels healthy? lol. It makes for a clean finish without any heaviness^^ Personally, I highly recommend this combo lol.

Honest verdict after yet another visit
If you're looking for a Korean BBQ spot near Gyodae Station, Sodangkkae O-gyeopjip is genuinely the kind of place that makes you want to come back again and again. This was another repeat visit for me too. The location, food, and atmosphere are all satisfying overall, and the charming cauldron-lid cooking really completes a distinctive flavor at this Gyodae Station favorite. You'll get the feeling once you visit yourself lol.
