Halal wraps in Hongdae, Seoul: beef wrap & fried shrimp, Halal Steaks
In short
Halal Steaks is a halal restaurant on the 2nd floor of a building in Hongdae, Seoul, about a 5-minute walk from Exit 9 of Hongik Univ. Station. Trying halal food for the first time, the writer ordered a beef wrap, a chicken wrap and fried shrimp at Halal Steaks, and especially loved the meat-packed beef wrap and the crispy shrimp. For a filling meal in Hongdae that isn't Korean BBQ or pasta, the wraps at Halal Steaks are a good pick.

A different kind of meal in Hongdae: how were the wraps at Halal Steaks?
Halal Steaks is a place near Hongik Univ. Station where you can eat halal wraps and sides. Whenever I go to Hongdae, I always end up at a barbecue place, a pasta place or a bar, right? This time I wanted something different, so I went to Halal Steaks, a restaurant near Hongik Univ. Station!

Honestly, halal food was new to me and felt a little unfamiliar, but once I tasted it I realized I'd worried for nothing, haha. It was mild, every ingredient tasted fresh, and above all the portion of meat was seriously generous, so I was happy the whole way through.

A hip yellow sign you can spot from afar
Halal Steaks is on the 2nd floor, but the yellow sign visible from far away made it easy to find. The color of the exterior is gorgeous, isn't it? The character logo is cute too and great for photos, so I was already in a good mood before going in, haha
Halal Steaks atmosphere: is it okay to eat alone?
The interior of Halal Steaks is bright and clean, with plenty of space between tables, so eating alone feels comfortable. As soon as I walked in, the yellow tables caught my eye. The whole place felt bright and tidy, which made it easy to eat, and the roomy spacing meant nothing felt cramped.

Quite a few people were dining alone, and there were also lots of groups of friends. So I think even solo diners in Hongdae can visit without any pressure.
The halal certificate on the wall

An actual halal certificate hangs on the wall of Halal Steaks, and being able to see that for yourself makes the place feel even more trustworthy.

How are the beef wrap and chicken wrap at Halal Steaks?
This time I ordered three things at Halal Steaks: the beef wrap, the chicken wrap and fried shrimp. As you can see in the photos, they look so appetizing, right?
- Beef wrap
- Chicken wrap
- Fried shrimp

The wraps are big and packed with filling, so just looking at them made me feel full, haha. Definitely try the beef wrap ❤️

The beef wrap was the best
Personally, the beef wrap at Halal Steaks was my favorite! With one bite, it was really packed with meat. It wasn't tough but tender, and the nutty flavor rose the more I chewed, so I enjoyed it a lot.

The sauce isn't overpowering, so it lets the meat shine, and the fresh vegetables add a crisp crunch, which is the best! As I ate, I understood why it's a popular item... no, haha. It's just delicious.
If you like meat, definitely try the beef wrap. (The base was lamb 😃)
Is the fried shrimp at Halal Steaks worth ordering with the wraps?
The fried shrimp at Halal Steaks is a side I recommend ordering together with the wraps 🍤

The fried shrimp I ordered as a side was great too. Crispy outside, with plump, springy shrimp inside, and dipped in sweet chili sauce I just kept reaching for more, haha

If wraps alone feel like a bit too little, I recommend ordering the fried shrimp too!
Is Halal Steaks okay if it's your first time trying halal food?
It was my first time with halal food, but the food at Halal Steaks was much lighter and milder than I expected. There are so many good restaurants around Hongik Univ. Station these days, right?

But if you want something a little different from the usual, Halal Steaks is worth a visit. I was nervous about trying halal for the first time, but it was far easier on the stomach and mild, and I enjoyed it. Above all the meat portion was really generous, so I felt full and satisfied afterward, and the fresh ingredients kept it tasty to the very end.
The place is clean and the mood is relaxed, so it's a great fit for a Hongdae date, a solo meal or a meal with friends. If you're looking for a good wrap place in Hongdae, give it a visit.

Next time I'm going to try the platter menu at Halal Steaks too! 😊 For days when you want something different or a hearty meal, Halal Steaks near Hongik Univ. Station is a great place to visit.
