Date brunch in Gwangju Suwan: lasagna Couple Set vs Sangmu, Bueokgan

A Suwan date spot with a modern mood, and a great place for pasta and soup. Hours are 11:30 a.m. to 9 p.m., with break time from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Parking: yes. High chair: yes. Groups: yes. Pets: no!

Today I'm sharing a brunch in the Suwan district! I hadn't had lunch with my partner in Suwan for a while, so I was wondering where to go and found Bueokgan (부엌간), famous for delicious soup, pasta and pizza. I'd only been to the Sangmu branch, so this time I tried the Suwan branch! haha Congratulations, Bueokgan Suwan Branch, on getting my pick~~

Where is Bueokgan Suwan Branch, and is there parking?

Bueokgan Suwan Branch is in the restaurant alley behind the Suwan police station, on the Sumun 1 Park side! Parking is a pain in Suwan, but you can park in the alley in front of the restaurant, so it's no stress to come by car!!

Bueokgan Suwan vs Sangmu: is the atmosphere different?

Bueokgan Suwan Branch is a modern restaurant with a European feel. Once I stepped inside, I was surprised, because it has a different charm from the Sangmu branch! Each branch has its own vibe, so it could be fun to pick and choose haha The staff greeted us kindly!

You order and pay at a kiosk in one go! And there's a Couple Set, so you can eat hearty and well~~ There are lots of refreshing drinks and plenty of wine too, so it'd make a great Suwan date course!

The drinks came out first after we ordered! The grapefruit ade had real grapefruit in it, so it was extra zesty, and the brewed coffee was just as delicious!!! (No refills on iced!)

Bueokgan Couple Set: what's included and the price

We ordered the Couple Set for ₩51,000 (+₩4,000)! It came with the pastry soup, shrimp anchovy oil pasta and lasagna.

All the dishes came out almost at the same time! It took roughly 15 to 20 minutes!!! Perfect set for a Suwan brunch, right? haha

Bueokgan is famous for its pastry soup, and it looks great, with pumpkin soup hiding inside! Poke the pastry lid with a fork and dip it into the soup! They also give you a small soup bowl so you can scoop some out and eat it separately! haha

The pastry is layered, so soft and mild, and the pumpkin soup is sweet, so they go together beautifully! haha It really is the dish you think of first when you hear Bueokgan!

Shrimp anchovy oil pasta with a surprisingly big portion

Next up is the shrimp anchovy oil pasta! The portion was bigger than I expected!!! It had shrimp and tomatoes, with cheese sprinkled on top at the end, so the look was a thumbs up!! lol

The shrimp are really plump with an amazing bouncy texture, and the noodles are chewy too!!! The anchovy oil made it feel clean and fresh as well lol

Lasagna packed with ragù sauce

Next, the lasagna!! I personally love lasagna packed with ragù sauce, and this was exactly that taste!! haha The ragù isn't too strong, and the pasta sheets are cooked nicely chewy, so it's a filling dish to enjoy!!

The mildness of the cheese and the salty ragù sauce go so well together!! haha The portion is pretty big too, so I really enjoyed my Suwan brunch!!

Would I go back to Bueokgan Suwan Branch?

Brunch at Bueokgan Suwan Branch, with delicious food, made the day feel full and fun! They have high chairs, so next time I'm thinking of coming with the kids! haha
