Gwangyang eel grill, extra tray and receipt-review ice cream: Deokeun

Deokeun Jangeo Gwangyang Branch is a self-grill eel restaurant next to Rakhui Hotel in Jungma-dong, Gwangyang, where diners buy domestic eel on the 1st floor and grill it themselves on the 2nd floor. The writer returned with their parents on a weekday evening, for the first time since the restaurant's early opening days, and found Deokeun Jangeo full by around 7pm. The plump, tender eel was good enough that they bought a second tray. With reasonable prices, a sea-facing view and lunch service, Deokeun Jangeo Gwangyang Branch is a solid pick for family meals or lunch gatherings.

Large bone hot pot for 4 with radish greens in Suncheon: Namdareun

Namdareun Gamjatang Suncheon Jorye branch (남다른감자탕 순천조례점) is a gamjatang (pork bone stew) and bone hot pot restaurant on Baegyeon-gil in Suncheon, Gwangju. On yet another repeat visit, the writer and their son, 4 people in all, shared a large Namdareun bone hot pot (남다른뼈전골) packed with lean meat and siraegi (dried radish greens) in a rich broth, then ordered a separate bowl of rice and finished it. With baby chairs and a kids' menu, Namdareun Gamjatang is an easy Suncheon restaurant for a gamjatang meal with children.

Jeonju dakgangjeong shop, eaten cold after my son's bedtime: Mannyeon

Mannyeon Dakgangjeong Hanok Village Direct Store is a takeout dakgangjeong (sweet, crispy Korean fried chicken) shop on Taejo-ro in Jeonju Hanok Village, Jeonbuk. A half spicy, half soy box for 30,000 won was carried around Jeonju Hanok Village for hours and eaten cold after putting my son to bed, yet the coating stayed crispy and the sauce never got tiresome. Mannyeon Dakgangjeong is a great street-food pick to take back to your stay as a late-night snack on a Jeonju Hanok Village trip.

Suncheon gamjatang open till 11 pm with baby chairs: Namdareun

Namdareun Gamjatang Suncheon Jorye branch is a gamjatang (pork bone stew) restaurant in Jorye-dong, Suncheon, across from Suncheon Centum Hospital, open every day from 10:00 to 23:00 all year round. The blogger visited with a baby and ordered the small Namdareun bone hot pot, finding baby chairs, a private parking lot and a self-serve bar with unlimited broth and ramen noodle refills. The broth at Namdareun Gamjatang was not salty and just spicy enough that the meal was filling even without rice, making it a go-to gamjatang spot in Suncheon.
