Hangover sundae-guk with self-serve noodles, Suwan District: Sinjuokmi
Sinjuokmi Suwan District branch is a 24-hour sundae-guk (blood sausage soup) and suyuk (boiled pork) restaurant in Jangdeok-dong, Gwangsan, Gwangju. Stopping in one morning after a heavy night, the writer ordered the suyuk set — the soup plus boiled pork for 3,000 won extra — and added boiled somyeon noodles, napa cabbage kimchi, cheongyang chili and onion from the self-serve bar. Clean broth with no gamy smell and moist pork boiled four times a day make Sinjuokmi both a hangover cure and a full meal.
