Dongmyeong-dong fusion Korean pub with doenjang sulbap: Ju Myeongdang

Ju Myeongdang is a fusion Korean pub on the second floor of a building on Jangdong-ro in Dongmyeong-dong, Gwangju. Over draft beer, the writer and a coworker shared the Samchon Suljang (Uncle's Drinking Table) set for 2–3 people — beef jeon, fried peppers, galbi, beef tartare inari sushi, cheese potato pancake and doenjang sulbap (soybean-paste rice) — then closed with hangover ramyeon and mini patbingsu. The doenjang sulbap and the straw-fire-scented galbi stood out enough that Ju Myeongdang is worth a return trip for the full straw-fire meat spread.
