Simdon Mokpo Pyeonghwagwangjang Branch is a Korean BBQ restaurant in Sangdong, Mokpo, near Pyeonghwa Square. Booking by phone before the visit to save travel time meant walking in with no wait for the Simdon mixed grill platter (medium) at ₩43,000, plus bomb cheese egg custard, milmyeon (wheat noodles) in beef bone broth and a bowl of rice topped with ham. The whole pork belly, flower pork neck and thick pork skin, finished with milmyeon instead of naengmyeon, are what set Simdon apart.

Namdareun Gamjatang Suncheon Jorye branch is a gamjatang (pork bone soup) and bone hot pot restaurant on Baegyeon-gil in Jorye-dong, Suncheon. Lunch with the kids was a medium Namdareun bone hot pot with a 2,500-won steamed egg and the Namdareun dumplings, a 9-piece plate of kimchi, round and meat dumplings, plus free refills of broth and ramen noodles.
