Yeonnam-dong fusion date restaurant with public parking tips: Rangteu

I visited Rangteu Yeonnam (랑트 연남, LANGT), a date-worthy spot in Yeonnam-dong, Hongdae. The atmosphere is cute and cozy, and the fusion Western food was delicious, so it was perfect for a date in Yeonnam-dong! The plating was pretty too, so it's a great place for photos*__*

Rangteu Yeonnam is open every day, Monday to Sunday, 11:30–21:30, with last order at 20:30. Groups, reservations, Wi-Fi, baby chairs and easy payment are all available.

Location and parking: where to park if you drive

Rangteu Yeonnam is a 3-minute walk from Exit 3 of Hongik Univ. Station. As is typical in Hongdae, there's no private parking lot, so if you're driving, I recommend the Yeonnam public parking lot, a 10-minute walk away. Urban Port and Truparking are a 5-minute walk, but they're pricey at ₩9,000 per hour.

What's the atmosphere like?

Rangteu Yeonnam is a fusion spot that adds Korean seasonal ingredients to European-style cooking. Prices are reasonable too, so I really recommend it as a date course😊

The inside is cute with soft lighting. The space is split into a window side and an inner side, and overall it felt warm and comfortable.

Menu and what we ordered for two

For two people, we ordered two dishes at Rangteu Yeonnam.

• Brisket melchobi pasta
• Red crab bisque shrimp risotto

Complimentary side: house-pickled cabbage and radish

Rangteu Yeonnam also served house-pickled cabbage and radish, which we ate alongside the dishes.

After we ordered, all the dishes came out at once, and the plating was so pretty that they looked delicious at first sight.

How is the brisket melchobi pasta? The cream I mistook for doenjang

Rangteu Yeonnam's brisket melchobi pasta comes topped with generous grilled brisket and bok choy. The vivid green of the bok choy was pretty too, and everything came together nicely on the plate.

It had such a deep savory flavor that I thought it was doenjang (fermented soybean paste), but it turned out to be meljeot cream (salted fermented anchovy cream)! It's fusion Korean, creamy yet with a rich savory depth.

Chili bisque shrimp risotto: chewy barley and a gentle chili kick

Rangteu Yeonnam's chili bisque shrimp risotto is topped with plump shrimp, and the bouncy shrimp with the rich bisque sauce gave it really great savory flavor. It's a thick risotto, and I think it had barley in it, because the texture was great and it went well with the soft, creamy taste.

The subtle chili and the creamy bisque sauce blended together so well that I never got tired of it. The flavor felt deeper with every bite, so I enjoyed it to the very end.

Is Rangteu Yeonnam a good Yeonnam-dong date course?

I was satisfied with everything at Rangteu Yeonnam, from the atmosphere to the food. If you want to enjoy both Korean and Western flavors, I hope you'll visit once :)
