Family Korean BBQ in Eunpyeong: highchairs & free parking, Yukjjeup

Yukjjeup Nokbeon (육쯥 녹번점) is a Korean BBQ restaurant on Eunpyeong-ro in Eunpyeong, Seoul, near Nokbeon Station on Line 3, serving pork aged in Jirisan. On a family meal out with a young child, the writer ordered the Yukjjeup Sampler (600g), kimchi stew, a bowl of rice and the free kids' rice for children 7 and under. Staff grilled the meat and a highchair was available, so the family could look after the child and still eat comfortably. Yukjjeup Nokbeon is a solid pick for families with kids or anyone looking for a group dinner spot.

Bulgwangcheon Korean BBQ: meat-topped yeolmu noodles & beer, Yukjjip

Yukjjip (육쯥) is a two-floor pork belly Korean BBQ restaurant on Bulgwangcheon-gil near Eungam Station in Eunpyeong, Seoul. After a weekday after-work walk along Bulgwangcheon with her husband, the writer ordered the Yukjjip sampler (54,000 won), yeolmu bibim guksu (spicy young radish kimchi noodles) and draft beer, and because staff grilled the meat, the whole pork belly, pork neck and gabeuri-sal all came out in great shape. For anyone who wants a Bulgwangcheon walk and dinner in one outing, Yukjjip is a choice you won't regret.

Bulgwang Station tonkatsu shop: takeout for parents, Insaeng Donkatsu

Insaeng Donkatsu Bulgwang branch (인생돈카츠 불광본점) is a tonkatsu (breaded pork cutlet) shop near Bulgwang Station Exit 6 in Eunpyeong, Seoul, selected by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety as a "good price" business. Jokbal and soju with friends by Yeonsinnae Station: Gwihanjokbal

Gwihanjokbal Yeonsinnae (귀한족발 연신내점) is a jokbal (braised pig's trotters) and bossam (boiled pork wraps) restaurant in Eunpyeong, Seoul, a 3-minute walk from Exits 6 and 7 of Yeonsinnae Station. Three friends ordered the best-selling half-and-half jokbal and flying fish roe rice balls; the portions were generous enough that no extra sides were needed, and a plan for one or two bottles of soju turned into more. Nokbeon Station sundaeguk restaurant with free parking: Samo Nokbeon

Saejeol Station ramen shop: chashu sold out, soft-boiled eggs, Oreno

Thanks to the rich chicken broth, generous chicken toppings and attentive service, Oreno Ramen Eunpyeong delivered a filling meal that left them in a good mood.

Frozen pork belly BBQ by Susaek Catholic Church: Mapo Guimadang DMC

Mapo Guimadang DMC is a Korean BBQ restaurant specialising in frozen pork belly and green onion kimchi, in the alley in front of Susaek Catholic Church near Digital Media City Station in Eunpyeong, Seoul. We ordered 4 portions of frozen pork belly (200g, ₩9,900 each) and a ₩3,000 doenjang jjigae (soybean paste stew). We grilled green onion kimchi and napa cabbage kimchi on the grill alongside the pork and switched lettuce wraps between green onion kimchi, napa cabbage kimchi and white kimchi. Verdict: if you love green onion kimchi, Mapo Guimadang DMC is an easy, affordable frozen pork belly spot near Digital Media City.

Korean BBQ for mom in Yeonsinnae: sirloin, then garlic rib, Sambaek

Sambaek Hanu Daecheop (삼백한우대첩) is an old-school Korean BBQ restaurant serving hanwoo (Korean beef) in Eunpyeong, Seoul, about a 3-minute walk from Yeonsinnae Station. The writer took their mom there for 300g of grade-1 hanwoo sirloin (deungsim-salchi) at 49,000 won, then added 200g of garlic short rib, and was pleased with the free hanwoo doenjang stew (soybean paste stew) and the neat side dishes. For a filling meal of good hanwoo at a reasonable price in Yeonsinnae, Sambaek Hanu Daecheop is a solid choice.
