Gwihanjokbal Yeonsinnae is a jokbal (braised pig's trotters) and bossam (boiled pork wraps) restaurant in Yeonsinnae, Eunpyeong, Seoul, whose Noble Triple serves jokbal, fire jokbal (spicy jokbal) and bossam on one platter. The writer ordered the Noble Triple and a flying fish roe rice ball, eating them in different combinations with spicy bean sprout soup, three kinds of kimchi and Gwihanjokbal's special sauce. Gwihanjokbal Yeonsinnae is a good pick when you can't decide and want to try jokbal, fire jokbal and bossam in one go.

Yeonsinnae pub for non-drinkers: Cinderella mocktail at Holiday Pub

Holiday Pub is a cocktail pub on the third floor of a building in an alley near Yeonsinnae Station in Eunpyeong-gu, Seoul. With a friend who can't really drink, the writer ordered the non-alcoholic Cinderella and Lemon Shower Tongtong cocktails and a seasoned potato and onion ring set, and noted the soft lighting and music kept low enough to talk. Holiday Pub is a Yeonsinnae spot for dates and get-togethers where non-drinkers won't feel left out.

Bulgwang Station tonkatsu, outside food OK upstairs: Insaeng Donkatsu

Insaeng Donkatsu Bulgwang branch is a tonkatsu (pork cutlet) lunchbox and fresh-cutlet shop near Exit 6 of Bulgwang Station, by the back entrance of NC Department Store in Eunpyeong, Seoul. In the second-floor dining area, the writer ate scored loin, Hug tenderloin and spicy green chili hamburger steak lunchboxes as hot udon sets, and got a free salad through the receipt review event. With a clean second floor that allows outside food, Insaeng Donkatsu Bulgwang branch is good value for dining in as well as takeout.

Eunpyeong ramen shop, chilly day: cilantro karai paitan, Oreno Ramen

Oreno Ramen Eunpyeong is a chicken-broth paitan ramen shop on Bulgwangcheon-gil in Eunpyeong, Seoul, near Saejeol Station. On a chilly day, the writer went to Oreno Ramen, their favourite ramen shop, and ordered karai paitan (spicy creamy chicken-broth ramen) with extra cilantro, egg and rice, plus a Coke Zero. The soft-boiled egg aged in a special sauce and the broth-soaked chicken stood out most. Oreno Ramen Eunpyeong makes an easy outing: a spicy chicken-broth bowl, then a walk along Bulgwangcheon stream right out front.

Toddler-friendly donkatsu near Saejeol Station: combo cutlets, refills

Bulgwangcheon Wang Donkatsu is an old-school, Western-style donkatsu (pork cutlet) restaurant in Eungam-dong, Eunpyeong, Seoul, between Saejeol Station and Bulgwangcheon Stream. After work on a weekday, a couple ordered 2 combo cutlets and a kids' rice meal for their 34-month-old, refilled the rice and cabbage salad, then took a night walk along Bulgwangcheon Stream right outside. With generous portions and a menu the toddler happily ate, Bulgwangcheon Wang Donkatsu is a good fit for a family dinner after work.

Eungam Pilates studio for CrossFit overhead squat mobility: Statefit

Statefit PT&Pilates Eungam is a 1:1 personal training and Pilates studio on the 7th floor of 278 Eungam-ro, Eunpyeong-gu, Seoul, near Eungam Station. The writer visited because their CrossFit overhead squat lacked range of motion. At Statefit PT&Pilates Eungam they had a consultation, a body analysis machine scan and an InBody test, then took two 1:1 Pilates classes focused on left hamstring, glute and chest mobility. The verdict: Statefit PT&Pilates Eungam pinpointed the writer's weak spots, the overhead squat began improving, and it is a studio worth going back to.

Family Korean BBQ in Eunpyeong: highchairs & free parking, Yukjjeup

Bulgwangcheon Korean BBQ: meat-topped yeolmu noodles & beer, Yukjjip

Yukjjip (육쯥) is a two-floor pork belly Korean BBQ restaurant on Bulgwangcheon-gil near Eungam Station in Eunpyeong, Seoul. After a weekday after-work walk along Bulgwangcheon with her husband, the writer ordered the Yukjjip sampler (54,000 won), yeolmu bibim guksu (spicy young radish kimchi noodles) and draft beer, and because staff grilled the meat, the whole pork belly, pork neck and gabeuri-sal all came out in great shape. For anyone who wants a Bulgwangcheon walk and dinner in one outing, Yukjjip is a choice you won't regret.

Bulgwang Station tonkatsu shop: takeout for parents, Insaeng Donkatsu

Insaeng Donkatsu Bulgwang branch (인생돈카츠 불광본점) is a tonkatsu (breaded pork cutlet) shop near Bulgwang Station Exit 6 in Eunpyeong, Seoul, selected by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety as a "good price" business. Jokbal and soju with friends by Yeonsinnae Station: Gwihanjokbal

Gwihanjokbal Yeonsinnae (귀한족발 연신내점) is a jokbal (braised pig's trotters) and bossam (boiled pork wraps) restaurant in Eunpyeong, Seoul, a 3-minute walk from Exits 6 and 7 of Yeonsinnae Station. Three friends ordered the best-selling half-and-half jokbal and flying fish roe rice balls; the portions were generous enough that no extra sides were needed, and a plan for one or two bottles of soju turned into more. With a clean dining room and group tables, Gwihanjokbal Yeonsinnae is a recommended spot for a team dinner in Yeonsinnae.

Nokbeon Station sundaeguk restaurant with free parking: Samo Nokbeon

Samo Sundaeguk Nokbeon (삼오순대국 녹번점) is a sundaeguk (Korean blood sausage soup) restaurant right in front of Eunpyeong District Office in Eunpyeong, Seoul, near Nokbeon Station. A regular at the Bulgwang branch shared a special-size assorted sundaeguk with a small plate of suyuk (boiled pork slices) at Samo Sundaeguk Nokbeon and especially liked the clear broth with no gamey smell and the well-fermented cabbage kimchi from the self-serve bar. With free parking at the Eunpyeong District Office lot after 6 pm on weekdays and all weekend, Samo Sundaeguk Nokbeon is an easy sundaeguk stop by car.
