Yeonsinnae tonkatsu: 1.5-portion solo set sized for two, Katsu Monster

Katsu Monster Yeonsinnae Branch is a Japanese-style tonkatsu (breaded pork cutlet) restaurant in Yeonsinnae, Eunpyeong, Seoul. The writer ordered the one-person set with triple katsu and cold soba. The set, listed as 1.5 portions, came out nearly the size of two servings, and the tender hire (tenderloin) katsu, the truffle salt and the ice-flecked cold soba stood out. With portion size, flavor and set value all satisfying, Katsu Monster Yeonsinnae Branch is a tonkatsu spot worth returning to whenever a crispy cutlet craving hits.

Kid-friendly ramen shop in Eunpyeong: aged-egg tori paitan at Oreno

Oreno Ramen Eunpyeong is a Japanese ramen shop on Bulgwangcheon-gil in Eunpyeong, Seoul, near Saejeol Station, serving only two dishes: tori paitan (creamy chicken broth ramen) and karai paitan. On an early lunch visit with a child who loves Japanese ramen, they watched the open kitchen and ordered tori paitan with an extra aged soft-boiled egg; the broth was rich but not greasy, the chicken was tender, and the child finished a whole bowl alone. For authentic Japanese-style ramen with kids in Eunpyeong, Oreno Ramen Eunpyeong is a good choice.

Oreno Ramen Eunpyeong (오레노라멘 은평점) is a chicken paitan ramen shop right by Bulgwangcheon stream in Eunpyeong, Seoul. Oreno Ramen Eunpyeong tasted much like the ramen she ate on trips to Japan, and the couple promised to return.

Sambaek Hanu Daecheop is a Korean BBQ restaurant serving hanwoo (Korean beef) and beef short rib in an old-school restaurant alley in Yeonsinnae, Eunpyeong, Seoul. On a weekday evening with my mom, I ordered 300g of garlic short rib first and added 100g of Korean beef yukhoe (raw beef tartare); the first order came with doenjang jjigae (soybean paste stew), and a review event got us ramyeon. Sambaek Hanu Daecheop's garlic-marinated short rib paired with fresh yukhoe made for a satisfying meal with retro old-alley charm.
