About

Payseondong Seomyeon opened in 2019 as a restaurant specialising in Japanese home-style rice bowls (donburi), located near the Jeonpo Café Street between Seomyeon Station and Jeonpo Station. Payseondong's menu is based on Japanese home cooking the owners encountered on a trip to Nagoya and adapted for Korean tastes, with karaage-don topped with fried chicken thigh, katsudon with a thick pork cutlet, and Nagoya-style cold soba served with slushy ice as its signature dishes. Payseondong Seomyeon also serves kimchi gyudon, ebi-don topped with fried shrimp, udon and Japanese rolled omelette (tamagoyaki), and offers Earl Grey highballs and cream draft beer to drink.

Payseondong Seomyeon makes its fried items in-house and cooks them to order, uses 100% Sindongjin rice, and trims its own beef brisket, pork loin, chicken and shrimp. To manage ingredients, Payseondong Seomyeon serves a limited 40 groups a day (55 on weekends) and closes early when ingredients run out. Payseondong Seomyeon gives extra rice, sauce and soup on request, and operates as a no-kids zone where children under 13 are not admitted.
