Tawa is a Japanese restaurant specialising in charcoal-grilled eel rice bowls and Nagoya-style hitsumabushi. Tawa uses a charcoal brazier made by a Japanese craftsman, and the eel is grilled over charcoal only after each order comes in. Tawa's signature hitsumabushi is eaten in three stages: first the eel and rice on their own, then with condiments such as seaweed and wasabi, and finally with warm broth poured over as ochazuke.
Besides eel, Tawa serves seafood rice bowls such as kaisendon and three-color rice bowls, aged sashimi and tuna platters, and seasonal fatty yellowtail offered only from November to January. In the evening, diners at Tawa can pair sashimi with sake or wine, and Tawa has private rooms as well as regular seating.
