1450ppm fluoride toothpaste for braces: Verdante Classic Dental Care
In short
Verdante Classic Dental Care is a high-fluoride gum-care toothpaste with 1450ppm fluoride, made as a clear gel with no tar dyes, organic plant-based ingredients and vegan certification. A writer in orthodontic treatment who brushes for over 20 minutes at a time used Verdante Classic Dental Care for one week and found it smooth, grit-free and clean-rinsing with no residue, though the mint cooling was on the mild side. Verdante Classic Dental Care suits braces wearers who check both fluoride level and ingredients.

I'm in braces, so I'm extra paranoid about cavities. Braces alone cost a fortune, and a cavity during treatment runs over ₩200,000 per tooth. So I brush very thoroughly, to the point that one session takes more than 20 minutes.
I've tried plenty of toothpastes, and many had grit I could feel or left me feeling like I hadn't brushed at all, even after ages of scrubbing. Then I used Verdante Classic Dental Care, a 1450ppm high-fluoride toothpaste, for one week. It's a clear gel with no tar dyes, and I checked the full ingredient list for the organic and vegan claims. This is my record of it.
What kind of toothpaste is Verdante Classic Dental Care?

Verdante Classic Dental Care is classified as a quasi-drug toothpaste in Korea. The approved effects and uses can be found on the seller's purchase page.
Fluoride level printed on the front of the Verdante box

On the front of the box, in small print under CLASSIC, it says 1450ppm Fluoride. The classic design looks nice just sitting on a bathroom shelf. Still, the first thing my eyes went to was the fluoride figure, not the design. Since I'm in braces, I always flip the box over to look for the fluoride content when I buy toothpaste, so having it right on the front was a relief.

The side of the box lists the product's features. In summary:
- 1450ppm high-fluoride toothpaste
- 16 plant-derived herbal ingredients
- No sulfate-based chemical surfactants, synthetic preservatives or tar dyes
- Removes bad breath and helps prevent gum disease
- Contains USDA- and ECOCERT-certified organic plant-based ingredients
- Vegan certified

Verdante Classic Dental Care full ingredients and active ingredients

Verdante Classic Dental Care has four active ingredients: dental-type silica, tocopheryl acetate, sodium fluoride and sodium pyrophosphate. It isn't just fluoride; with several active ingredients, I could see why it's sold as a gum-care toothpaste.

The full ingredient list is below.
- Active ingredients: dental-type silica, tocopheryl acetate, sodium fluoride, sodium pyrophosphate
- Other additives: D-sorbitol solution, L-menthol, licorice extract, green tea extract, concentrated glycerin, matricaria extract, peppermint oil (bakha-yu), ginger powder, sage extract, spearmint oil, citric acid, ascorbic acid, aloe extract (09), olive oil, turmeric extract, eucalyptus extract, xylitol, purified water, clove oil, natural flavor (mastic oil), calendula extract, sodium carboxymethylcellulose, sodium cocoyl glutamate, sodium bicarbonate, peppermint oil, hydroxyapatite, scutellaria extract, fennel oil, enzymatically modified stevia
Sodium lauryl sulfate, sodium saccharin and titanium dioxide, which people shopping for natural toothpaste tend to avoid, aren't on the list.
Verdante high-fluoride toothpaste: cautions and shelf life

Because Verdante Classic Dental Care has more than 1,000ppm fluoride, children aged 6 and under should consult a doctor or dentist first. Avoid swallowing it, and rinse your mouth thoroughly after use. The precautions are printed carefully on the package. Many people check these first when choosing toothpaste during pregnancy, and since it's all on the package, there's no need to look anywhere else.

The expiry date stamped on the end of the box is May 2029. It's 36 months from manufacture, so even if you buy four at once, you can take them out one by one without rushing. Room temperature (1–30℃) is fine for storage.
A 100g tube is a nice size to hold. The clean design looks good standing next to the toothbrush holder. The tube itself has the same green and red design as the box, so even if you throw the box away, you can tell right away what it is.
Why I chose Verdante high-fluoride toothpaste while wearing braces

Four tubes of Verdante Classic Dental Care come to 400g in total. Even someone who brushes as meticulously as I do won't need to buy more for a while. There's plenty to split between the home bathroom, the office and a pouch.
I'm someone who takes more than 20 minutes to brush. Cleaning around the braces means the paste stays in my mouth longer than usual, so I care even more about what I'm putting in it every day.

A cavity during braces costs over ₩200,000 per tooth. So my first criterion for oral care products is fluoride content. At 1450ppm, this is a high-fluoride product above 1,000ppm, which makes me feel reassured using it daily.

Directions: put an appropriate amount on the toothbrush and brush.

The precautions say to rinse your mouth thoroughly after use, so it's a good idea to be careful with that final rinse too.
What does Verdante's clear gel toothpaste feel like?
When you open the tube cap, the opening is covered with a seal. Since this goes in my mouth every day, a sealed tube puts my mind at ease about hygiene.
After peeling the seal and squeezing, clear gel came out instead of white paste. I'm so used to white that it felt new.

It's a whitish, translucent gel. It apparently looks like this because it contains no color-giving ingredients like tar dyes or titanium dioxide. After using products where I could feel grit, the smooth gel texture was much more comfortable.
It has just enough thickness to sit on the bristles without dripping. It stays put where you squeeze it, even on a narrow-headed orthodontic toothbrush.

How does Verdante taste, and how clean does it feel after brushing?
The first thing I noticed when I put Verdante Classic Dental Care in my mouth wasn't mint but fluoride. If you're around my age, you'll remember the fluoride rinse they handed out at school in the early elementary grades; that taste flashed back to me. There's almost no sweetness, which I actually liked.
After rinsing, almost no residue is left in the mouth. Nothing gets stuck in the braces either, so it feels clean. When I finished brushing, it felt properly cleaned and fresh. When I habitually ran my tongue over the base of my teeth, they felt smooth to my tongue, which was refreshing. This is purely my personal impression, together with my habit of brushing carefully for 20 minutes every day.
There's one downside. I like a tingly, cooling feeling when I brush, and this product's minty cooling effect isn't strong, which was a little disappointing. On the flip side, if strong mint is too much for you, you might find it more comfortable.
Verdict after one week with Verdante Classic Dental Care

After a week, what I liked most about Verdante Classic Dental Care was that it's a 1450ppm high-fluoride toothpaste, and that it's a grit-free clear gel that rinses clean with no residue. It felt a bit mild to me since I like that cooling kick, but it could be a plus for anyone who wants to avoid strong mint. If you're in braces, or you weigh fluoride content and ingredients together, take a look when choosing a gum-care toothpaste.
