I had been wanting to visit a hanok village for the first time in ages, so I took a trip to Jeonju. After admiring the pretty hanok-lined streets and eating lots of delicious things, the soles of my feet were aching and I was thirsty, so I went looking for somewhere to rest—and ended up at Anma Jogyok Cafe Jeonmang (안마족욕카페전망), one of the cafés in Jeonju Hanok Village!

As I climbed the stairs to the second floor, I found heartwarming quotes written on every step, which made the walk up fun.

A cool interior and getting ready

When I opened the door, the owner gave me such a kind welcome. It was hot outside, but the air conditioning inside was blasting—it was so cool that “Siberia” felt like exactly the right word.

First, I changed from my shoes into slippers at the shoe cabinet and stored my belongings in a locker.

There is also a changing room, and they sell socks in case you forgot yours!

A foot-soak course with views of the hanok village

After looking over the menu, I chose the best-value course: a foot soak, shoulder massage, and complimentary drink. I asked for a refreshing iced Americano.

Seats run along the floor-to-ceiling windows, so you can take in the Jeonju Hanok Village scenery at a glance throughout your foot soak and massage.

Through the windows, the view of Jeonju Hanok Village's rolling tiled roofs filled my eyes—it was truly picture-perfect.

I was shown to my seat and found out that it was the very spot where actor Go Kyung-pyo had sat. My husband's seat was Song Eun-i's spot, haha.

Every seat has a plush chair, knee blanket, mini table, and fan, so you can relax comfortably with your drink.

Sitting there and looking out the window, I could see why the café is called Jeonmang, meaning “view.”

Choosing peppermint or lavender bath additives

For the foot soak, you can choose from three bath additives: peppermint, lavender, or rose. I chose the cool, refreshing peppermint, while my husband picked relaxing lavender.

They dissolved the bath additive into the warm water in the foot bath, and as soon as I put my feet in, the automatic sole massage began. They also placed a shoulder massager on me and put an acupressure tool in my hand.

With my feet in the warm water, the shoulder massage loosening my tight muscles, and the beautiful hanok view outside the window, all my built-up fatigue melted away at once. 🩶

After about 30–40 minutes of foot soaking and massage, I dried my feet thoroughly with a towel and headed to the foot cream station in the middle of the café. I made sure to apply foot cream too, finishing with soft, moisturized feet. 🩶
