A wide bakery selection near Yeongdeungpo-gu Office Station

BYWAY BAKERS Yeongdeungpo Branch has around 60 kinds of bakery items and baked sweets, including financiers, egg tarts, and salt bread. It may have one of the most varied selections among bakeries near Yeongdeungpo-gu Office Station! If you time your visit for when the bread comes out, it will be even tastier, right? 😋

I visited around 11 a.m. on a weekday and got to see lots of different breads: meal breads such as baguettes, bagels, and focaccia, plus plenty of sweet choices such as baked treats, egg tarts, and pineapple buns for dessert.

The one that caught my eye most was the Wack Ppu salt bread! Wack Ppu balls have been popular lately, and I had tried them a few times myself. A salt bread with a chocolate coating that really captures that Wack Ppu feel on top? Such a good idea.

BYWAY BAKERS Yeongdeungpo Branch also has dedicated gift boxes and party supplies ready, so it seems like a nice place to pick up a present.

Packing up a chicken breast sandwich
I was going to have a quick sandwich in the park right in front, so I packed one up, along with Wack Ppu salt bread and red bean bread!

Chicken breast sandwich
A fresh sandwich made with olive focaccia, fresh arugula, tomato, and moist chicken breast.

The olive focaccia was savory and nutty, while the sandwich itself was not overly seasoned. Whole-grain mustard added a fresh lift, making it clean and easy to eat. The chicken breast was incredibly moist and tender!

The olive cheese focaccia seems like it would be delicious on its own too, so I am adding it to my next shopping list—definitely, definitely.
Fig Basque cheesecake Wack Ppu salt bread
Fig Basque cheesecake Wack Ppu salt bread 💥 This Wack Ppu salt bread is filled with fresh figs, Basque cheesecake, and yogurt cream, then coated in white chocolate.

BYWAY BAKERS offers three kinds of Wack Ppu salt bread: fresh blueberry yogurt, fresh peach yogurt, and fig Basque cheesecake, a new fall seasonal item. I chose the fig one because sweet, ripe seasonal figs and dense, rich Basque cheesecake are such a perfect pairing—and the sweet, nutty combination is addictive.

Keep it refrigerated so the chocolate firms up and really gives that Wack Ppu feel; avoid warm places. Since it is wrapped, the salt bread keeps its dense, moist texture even in the refrigerator, and it goes well with the yogurt cream without becoming dry or crumbly.
Smashing the Wack Ppu salt bread was even more fun than I expected! It was a mistake to wear crinkly gloves because they made so much noise... 😅 But the crisp snap of the chocolate coating was absolutely satisfying.
It looks like salt bread on the outside, but the inside is packed as though a whole plate of dessert has been stuffed in—it feels more like cake than salt bread!

The figs are not just placed on top; there are generous chunks inside too. Together with the crisp chocolate texture, it makes every bite interesting. The yogurt cream brings a bright tang that balances everything nicely, and because you can add as much of the broken chocolate as you like, you can adjust the sweetness too. It was more delicious than expected.

Moist red bean bread
It was not too sweet, with a delicious chewy texture, and the toasty aroma of the outside paired beautifully with the sweet red bean filling. This is a bakery that does the basics well too 😉
