5 Budu Twigimjip (5부두튀긴집) is a Seomyeon beer bar famous for a reeeeally huge chili fritter and great Korean snack-bar food to drink with. Most women I know love bunsik (Korean snack-bar food), so here's a Seomyeon bar where you can drink with tasty tteokbokki (spicy rice cakes) and fritters 🍻

What's the atmosphere like at 5 Budu Twigimjip in Seomyeon?
The sign says "Obudu Twigimjip" and looks like it was made by AI. It's counted among Seomyeon's most vibe-filled bars, a beer spot with great snack-food bites 🍺

Inside, it isn't flashy or grand, but it feels clean and lively. Perfect for a second round! For the record, we came for our third.

An old-style calendar 📅 come on.. haha The inner room feels old-fashioned too, like the snacks might be served by your grandma, haha.

What we ordered at 5 Budu Twigimjip
- Tteok-twi-sun ₩22,000 (fritters + Grandma's special sundae assortment + 5-minute pan tteokbokki)
- 5-minute fish cake soup ₩7,500
- Seasonal herb fritters ₩18,000
- Grandpa's favorite pollack fritters ₩4,000
- Beer ₩5,000 ×2
- Soju ₩5,000

The default side at 5 Budu Twigimjip is saewookkang (shrimp-flavored crackers) 🤣 The tastiest soju snack of all! A witty owner, haha. We all had a laugh. Extra saewookkang is +₩1,000.

Nutty barley tea that suits the place 😍 After the visit I even made barley tea at home, haha.

How are the 5-minute pan tteokbokki and pan fish cake?
The pan tteokbokki came out first, with five long rice cakes, plenty of sauce and chopped scallions on top. It looks like it can't possibly be bad, haha.

I dipped a bite in the sauce, and the sweet-spicy flavor beats Iga Tteokbokki, haha. You get five long rice cakes, completely rice-based (ssal-tteok), soft and chewy, so the rice cakes themselves were tasty~ Just cut them into bite-size pieces and turn the heat down~

Right after, a tray of 5-minute fish cake soup 🍢 I tried the warm broth first: anchovy-and-kelp base, subtly savory and refreshing, like it settles your stomach~ One more bottle of soju, hahaha 🤣🤣

We ordered the sundae (Korean blood sausage) as a side, and it had lots of innards and was sneakily good, so everyone raved about it!! 👍 The secret ssamjang (dipping paste) was especially delicious~~

Are 5 Budu Twigimjip's Instagram-famous giant chili fritters worth it?
The fritters here are the textbook definition of crispy outside, moist inside!! The batter isn't thick, and the fritters bring out the natural taste of the ingredients 👏👏 Even cheese scorched with a torch, haha. Looks delicious.
The giant chili fritter, famous on Instagram too 🌶🌶 It wasn't overly oily, crispy outside and moist inside, with a spicy, clean aftertaste, so good!! It's super hot, so be careful. Everyone agreed it was great, haha.

How many dipping sauces come with the fritters?
When you order fritters at 5 Budu Twigimjip, four sauces come out: curry powder, soy sauce, tartar and a spicy sauce 🤗 Dip them however you like. I also liked them dipped in the tteokbokki sauce. Fritters and tteokbokki sauce are a perfect match, right? haha

They really fry well~ How do they get it so crispy outside and moist inside? Boss!! One more beer~ 🍺 haha

Are the 18,000 won seasonal herb fritters worth it?
The seasonal herb fritters at 5 Budu Twigimjip are ₩18,000. They're my boyfriend's favorite herb fritters, and ₩18,000 seemed pricey, but they're healthy fritters you can't get anywhere else?, so it's fine, hahaha 🤣

The minari (water dropwort) fritter is fried with whole minari, so it's not just crispy but flaky-crisp haha 👏👏 Great beer snack!! Tastier than fried chicken~~

If you love beer, stop by 5 Budu Twigimjip in Seomyeon~ And the chili fritter is a must, haha 🌶 It was a perfect third-round bar, and we ate well~ See you again, haha 👋
